The 10th SIGHAN workshop returned and co-located with the 62nd Annual Meeting of the Association for Computational Linguistics (ACL-2024) in Bangkok, Thailand on August 11–16, 2024.
In an increasingly interconnected world, the importance of Chinese language processing cannot be overstated. As one of the most widely spoken languages, Chinese presents unique challenges and opportunities in the current research of artificial intelligence. Effective processing of the Chinese language opens doors to vast markets and cultural exchanges, fostering global collaboration and understanding. It serves as a critical tool in bridging linguistic divides and unlocking the rich textual heritage and contemporary content in Chinese. The focus of this workshop delves into the challenges in processing of the Chinese language, especially within the technology explosion of large language model, to explore how the Chinese specific tasks can be optimised to effectively understand as well as generating Chinese text. To encourage higher quality submissions, we will offer one Best Paper Award and one Best Student Paper Award based on nomination by the reviewers and extensive discussions among the chairs. Accepted papers will be presented as posters by default, and outstanding submissions will also be selected for oral or spotlight presentations and recommended to the following international journals: 1) International Journal of Machine Learning and Cybernetics. (IF 5.6) 2) Data Intelligence. (IF 3.9) We also solicit cross-submission. The submissions of other related conferences, including Natural Language Processing, Machine Learning, and Information Retrieval, are welcome to submit to our workshop. Accepted papers will be presented at the workshop, with an indication of original venue, but will not be included in the workshop proceedings. If you haven't yet chosen a conference for submitting your work, we warmly invite you to consider our workshop. You may indicate if you prefer your submission to be 'not included in the proceedings'. This option allows you to present your work, thereby gaining visibility and impact, while leaving open the possibility of submitting it to a future event. Please note, however, that papers excluded from the proceedings will not be eligible for journal recommendation. Furthermore, SIGHAN 10 provides a shared task, namely Chinese Dimensional Aspect-Based Sentiment Analysis, dimABSA (https://dimabsa2024.github.io/). The evaluation papers will be also included in the workshop proceedings after review and revision. We offer a Best Evaluation Paper Award based on the performance and evaluation paper quality. The high-quality evaluation papers will be recommended to Electronics (IF 2.9) Special Issue on New Advances in Affective Computing.
