SEPLN 2024: 40th INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE OF THE SPANISH SOCIETY FOR NATURAL LANGUAGE PROCESSING

The Spanish Society for Natural Language Processing (SEPLN) is pleased to invite you to participate in the 40th edition of the SEPLN Conference. The SEPLN Conference will take place on 25-27 September 2024 at Valladolid (Spain) at University of Valladolid.

The huge amount of digital information available in different languages has created the need for systems to access this valuable resource in an increasingly structured way. Thus, there is a renewed interest in improving the ways in which we can access and leverage this information in multilingual environments. The formal and technological foundations to address these needs have and keep being proposed from the area of Natural Language Processing (NLP) and its many branches: information extraction and retrieval, language models, question answering, machine translation, automatic analysis of textual content, text summarization, text simplification, text generation, and speech recognition and synthesis.

The main objective of the SEPLN 2024 Conference is to provide both the scientific community and the industry with a forum to present and share the latest research and developments in the field of NLP. The SEPLN 2024 Congress also gives the possibility to present real NLP applications being an appropriate forum to help new professionals to become active members in this field.

In past editions, the SEPLN Conference had a special focus on the presentation of R&D projects and applications (demos). In this edition, the section of demos and R&D projects is detached, being presented in a seminar within the Spanish Congress of Informatics CEDI to be held in A Coruña on June 20, 2024. Structure of the Conference

The SEPLN 2024 Conference will be a four-day event and will include sessions to present papers, ongoing research projects and prototype or product demos related to the topics of the conference. Likewise, the 24th of September will take place the Workshop Day, where the main workshop will be IberLEF 2024.

Paper types and author guidelines

The SEPLN 2024 Conference will accept original scientific contributions in the topics of the conference. Research project summaries and system demonstration papers should be submitted to the CEDI seminar at https://seplncedi2024.gplsi.es/

The accepted scientific contributions will be published in the Journal Procesamiento del Lenguaje Natural, whose aim is to promote the development of areas related to NLP, disseminate research carried out, identify future guidelines for basic research, and present software applications in this field. The scientific quality of the Journal is supported by the 2022 JCR index (JCI: 0.32, Q4-Linguistics - ESCI), the SCImago Journal Ranking (SJR: 0.42, Q4-Computer Science Applications, Q2-Linguistics and Language), the Scopus Index (CiteScore: 2.9, Q4-Computer Science Applications, Q2-Linguistics and Language) and the index SNIP (Source Normalized Impact per Paper) with 0.93 points. The papers can be written in Spanish or English and must be at most 10 A4-size pages of content, plus unlimited pages for references. The papers must include the following sections:

● The title of the communication (in English and Spanish).
● The paper must be anonymized, since the Journal follows a double-blind review process.
● An abstract with a maximum of 150 words (in English and Spanish).
● A list of keywords or related topics (in English and Spanish).
● The documents must not include headers or footers.

Camera ready - the final version of the paper (camera ready) should be submitted together with a cover letter explaining how the suggestions of the reviewers were implemented in the final version. This cover letter will be considered in order to accept or finally reject the selected paper.

Preprint policy - The Journal allows the publication of preprints (non-refereed paper posted online, such as ArXiv) anytime, but during the review period the preprint must indicate that the paper is “under review” in the Journal Procesamiento del Lenguaje Natural. Likewise, if the paper is accepted, the preprint must be updated with the DOI, name of the Journal and the bibliographic information of the paper.

Submission Information. The papers must be submitted by March 17th, 2024. All submissions must be in PDF format and submitted electronically using the MyReview system available at: http://myreview.sepln.org/myreview-sepln73.

Submitted papers will be subjected to a blind review by at least three members of the SEPLN advisory council.

SEPLN 2024: XL Congreso Internacional de la Sociedad Española para el Procesamiento del Lenguaje Natural

La Sociedad Española para el Procesamiento del Lenguaje Natural (SEPLN) se complace en invitarle a participar en la 40ª edición del Congreso SEPLN, que tendrá lugar en la Universidad de Valladolid.

La enorme cantidad de información disponible en formato digital y en diferentes idiomas exige que los sistemas informáticos nos faciliten el acceso a esta ingente cantidad de información de una forma cada vez más estructurada. Por esta razón, existe un renovado interés en mejorar la accesibilidad y explotación de la información en entornos multilingües. La base formal y tecnológica para abordar adecuadamente estas necesidades se ha propuesto y se sigue proponiendo desde el área del Procesamiento del Lenguaje Natural (PLN) y sus múltiples ramas: extracción y recuperación de información, modelos de lenguaje, respuesta a preguntas, traducción automática, análisis automático de textos y contenidos textuales, resumen de texto, simplificación de texto, generación de texto y reconocimiento y síntesis de voz.

El principal objetivo del Congreso SEPLN 2024 es proporcionar, tanto a la comunidad científica como a la industria, un foro donde presentar y compartir las últimas investigaciones y desarrollos en el campo del PLN. El Congreso SEPLN 2024 también da la posibilidad de presentar aplicaciones reales de PLN siendo un foro apropiado para ayudar a los nuevos profesionales a convertirse en miembros activos en este campo.

En pasadas ediciones, el Congreso SEPLN tenía una atención especial para la presentación de proyectos de I+D y aplicaciones (demos). En esta edición, la sección de demostraciones y proyectos de I+D se desliga, presentándose en un seminario dentro del Congreso Español de Informática CEDI a celebrar en A Coruña el 20 de junio en 2024. El seminario de demos y proyectos tiene su propia llamada a la participación en (https://seplncedi2024.gplsi.es/)

Organización del congreso
El Congreso durará cuatro días en los que se presentarán artículos científicos, resúmenes de proyectos de investigación y demostraciones de productos o prototipos relacionados con temas del Congreso. El 24 de septiembre tendrá lugar el día de talleres de trabajo, donde destaca entre todos el taller IberLEF 2024.

Tipos de artículos y pautas para los autores
El Congreso SEPLN 2024 aceptará contribuciones científicas originales en el dominio del Procesamiento del Lenguaje Natural. Los resúmenes de proyectos de investigación y los artículos descriptivos de demostraciones de sistemas deberán enviarse al seminario organizado en CEID 2024 en https://seplncedi2024.gplsi.es/

Las contribunciones científicas serán publicadas en la revista Procesamiento del Lenguaje Natural, cuyo fin es potenciar el desarrollo de las diferentes áreas relacionadas con el PLN, mejorar la divulgación de las investigaciones que se llevan a cabo, identificar las futuras directrices de la investigación básica y mostrar las posibilidades reales de aplicación en este campo. La calidad científica de la Revista está respaldada por el índice del JCR 2021 (JCI: 0,32, Q4-Linguistics - ESCI), el índice SCImago Journal Ranking (SJR: 0,42, Q4-Computer Science Applications, Q2-Linguistics and Language), el índice de Scopus (CiteScore: 29, Q4-Computer Science Applications, Q2-Linguistics and Language) y el índice SNIP (Source Normalized Impact per Paper) con 0,93 puntos. Este tipo de artículos pueden escribirse en español o inglés y deben tener una longitud máxima de 10 páginas A4 de contenido más un número ilimitado de páginas para referencias. Estos artículos deben contener al menos la siguiente información:
● El título del artículo (en español e inglés).
● El artículo debe estar anonimizado, dado que la revista aplica una revisión por pares de doble ciego.
● Un resumen de un máximo de 150 palabras (en español e inglés).
● Un listado de temas relacionados o palabras clave (en español e inglés).
● Los documentos no podrán incluir cabeceras ni pies de página.

Versión final - La versión final del trabajo (camera ready) debe enviarse con un documento en el que se explique cómo se han implementado las sugerencias de los revisores. Dicho documento se tendrá en cuenta para aceptar o rechazar el trabajo en cuestión.

Política de prepublicación - La revista permite publicar una versión no revisada de los artículos en plataformas de prepublicación (plataformas de artículos no evaluados como ArXiv). Sin embargo, durante el periodo de revisión se debe indicar que el artículo está “en revisión” en la revista Procesamiento del Lenguaje Natural. Si el artículo es aceptado, se debe actualizar la publicación en la plataforma de prepublicación con el DOI, nombre de la revista y la información bibliográfica del artículo.

Información para el envío de artículos. El plazo de envío de artículos termina el 17 de marzo de 2024. Los artículos deben enviarse en formato PDF a través de la plataforma MyReview: http://myreview.sepln.org/myreview-sepln73.

Todos los artículos serán revisados según el sistema de doble ciego por al menos tres miembros del consejo asesor de la SEPLN.
