Call For Papers

The new International Conference on Decision Making in Medicine and Law aims at becoming a new established meeting point for the exchange of research experience on all aspects of decision making in medicine and law, with a special emphasis on the implications of the use of information technologies, specifically Artificial Intelligence.

The conference aims at:

- Providing students, practitioners, and researchers in psychiatry, psychology, and law, with high quality education on cutting-edge topics in medicine and law, as well as in other relevant aspects of the forensic field.

- Bringing together research scholars as well as practitioners in forensic psychiatry, psychology, and law to exchange and share their experiences and research results on all aspects of decision making in medicine and law.

- Facilitating connections and building synergies among the different disciplines.
DMM&L 2023 welcomes authors to submit proposals for presentations of thematic sessions.


== Topics of interest ==

Topics of interest are as follows (the list is not exhaustive):

- Artificial intelligence (AI) applications in medicine and law
- Decision-making in forensic psychiatric assessment
- The role of neuroscience in legal proceedings
- Multidisciplinary perspectives in forensic evaluations
- Ethical aspects linked to the use of AI in the forensic field
- AI applications in prediction of aggression and violence
- AI and its implications in guilt, punishment, and responsibility
- AI-based systems to support personal injury compensation.


== Types of submissions ==

The following types of submissions are solicited:
- Abstracts of oral presentations
- Abstracts to be presented in the poster session
- Proposals of thematic sessions, including the abstracts of 4-5 oral presentations on a related topic. Those who organize two or more sessions will be added to the Scientific Programme Committee.


== Journal special issue ==

We aim at publishing a special issue in a widely recognised International journal with extended versions of the best conference contributions, provided that a sufficient amount of high-quality manuscripts is collected. Prospective authors will be given further details after the conference.
