Dear Colleagues,

Heart failure (HF) is a multi-faceted and life-threatening syndrome, generating an enormous clinical, societal, and economic burden. The cardiac responses to myocardium failure adversely remodel the electrophysiology of the heart, predisposing patients with HF to an increased likelihood of arrhythmic death. The mechanisms responsible for increased arrhythmia susceptibility relies on changes in the ion channel and transporter expression and function. Understanding the mechanisms of arrhythmogenic remodeling is key to improving arrhythmia management and the prevention of sudden cardiac death in patients with heart failure. This Special Issue of Bioengineering on electrical remodeling in the failing heart addresses the underlying mechanisms of electrical alterations in heart failure by bringing together contributions from worldwide experts on cardiac electrophysiology and biomedical engineering.
