Call For Papers

The Faculty of Political Science and Administration of the Kazimierz Wielki
University in Bydgoszcz cordially invites you to the international conference
entitled „Utopias and dystopias in the face of contemporary social fears and
hopes”.
The success of the first conference on the indicated issues, which was held
at our university in 2020 and had a nationwide character, encouraged us to
open up to the whole world. We are convinced that this will contribute to establishing
lasting and creative relations, which in turn will allow us to better
know and understand the phenomena designated by the title of the conference.
The importance of studying utopias and dystopias can be seen both through
the prism of political projects that brought development and integration
around the idea of a common Europe, but also such ideologies that caused
a lot of death and poverty, such as Nazism or „Putinism”. The study of this type
of manifestations of thought has the dimension of not only purely abstract
considerations, but also practical and anticipatory ones. There is always
a probability that what remains a utopian and/or dystopian project for a fraction
will gain enough adherents and a high enough level of social support
to turn out to be an effective tool in the struggle for power or influencing
decision-making processes. Thanks to this conference, we want to integrate
the community of researchers of the above-mentioned issues in order
to stimulate the exchange of thoughts, experiences and research results,
which will allow for faster development of this type of research.

The fee for participation in the conference is PLN 400.
The fee for doctoral students and members of the Polish Political Science Society
is PLN 250.
The fee includes:
hotel accommodation, meals during the two days of the conference, sightseeing
in the city and entry tickets to the visited places, as well as the publication of the abstract
in the book of abstracts and the publication of the post-conference scientific paper.
Payments for participation in the conference should be sent to the bank account
of the Kazimierz Wielki University with annotation: “the fee for participation
