The 10th International Conference on
Ontologies, DataBases, and Applications of Semantics (ODBASE 2011) 18-20 Oct 2011, Crete, Greece http://www.onthemove-conferences.org Proceedings will be published by Springer Verlag About ODBASE The conference on Ontologies, DataBases, and Applications of Semantics for Large Scale Information Systems (ODBASE'11) provides a forum on the use of ontologies and data semantics in novel applications. Of particular relevance to ODBASE 2011 are papers that bridge traditional boundaries between disciplines such as databases, networking, mobile systems, artificial intelligence, information retrieval, and computational linguistics. We also encourage the submission of research and practical experience papers concerning scale issues in ontology management, information integration, and data mining, as well as papers that examine the information needs of various applications. This year, in addition to its traditional focus on the management of semantically-rich information, ODBASE will have special themes on Semantics in Complex Event Processing and Semantics in the Internet of Things. Therefore, we encourage submissions in areas that connect semantics with the entire data flow cycle: data acquisition e.g. from sensors and mobile devices, data stream processing, e.g., filtering and event contextualization, to dissemination, e.g., publish/subscribe. ODBASE'11 intends to draw a highly diverse body of researchers and practitioners by being part of the Federated conferences Event "On the Move to Meaningful Internet Systems 2011 (OnTheMove'11)" that co-locates three conferences: ODBASE'11, DOA-SVI'11 (International Symposium on Secure Virtual Infrastructures), and CoopIS'11 (International Conference on Cooperative Information Systems). ODBASE 2011 will consider two categories of papers: research and experience. Research papers must contain novel, unpublished results. Experience papers must describe existing, real-world scale systems; preference will be given to papers that describe software products or systems that are in wide experimental use. TOPICS OF INTEREST Specific areas of interest to ODBASE'11 include but are not limited to: Semantic Management of Complex Event Processing Semantics in event-driven architectures Semantic profile and event processing for pub-sub systems Event algebras, event schemas and type systems Semantic event dissemination Use cases and applications of semantic event-based systems Event-driven business process management Social sensing Management of Semantically-Expressive Information Semantic data models Semantic information retrieval and querying Heterogeneous dataspaces Semantic integration, including ontology matching, merging, etc. Ontology engineering and metadata management Management of large ontology-driven data and knowledge bases XML and Semantics Hypertext, multimedia, and hypermedia semantics Semantic middleware and SOA Searching and managing dynamic knowledge Ontological support for location-aware services and mobile information systems Applications of Ontology Reasoning Applications, Evaluations, and Experiences in the following domains: Web 2.0 and Social Systems Real-world Internet (IoT, Internet-connected objects) Linked Data Personal Information Management Enterprise-wide Information Systems Web-based Information Systems and Services eCommerce, eScience, and Virtual Organizations Emergency Response and Disaster Management Ubiquitous and Mobile Information Systems IMPORTANT DATES Conference Abstract Submission Deadline: June 13 Conference Paper Submission Deadline: June 20 Acceptance Notification: August 01 Camera Ready Due: August 22 Author Registration Due: August 22 ODBASE Conference: October 18-20 SUBMISSION GUIDELINES Papers submitted to ODBASE'11 must not have been accepted for publication elsewhere or be under review for another workshop or conference. All submitted papers will be carefully evaluated based on originality, significance, technical soundness, and clarity of expression. All papers will be refereed by at least three members of the program committee, and at least two will be experts from industry in the case of practice reports. All submissions must be in English. Submissions must not exceed 18 pages in the final camera-ready paper style. Submissions must be laid out according to the final camera-ready formatting instructions and must be submitted in PDF format. The paper submission site is located at: http://www.onthemove-conferences.org/index.php/submitpaper The final proceedings will be published by Springer Verlag as LNCS (Lecture Notes in Computer Science). Author instructions can be found at: http://www.springer.de/comp/lncs/authors.html Failure to comply with the formatting instructions for submitted papers will lead to the outright rejection of the paper without review. Failure to commit to presentation at the conference automatically excludes a paper from the proceedings.
