AIMS AND SCOPE
Using Graphics Processing Units of graphics cards for general processing (the so-called GPGPU) in recent years has gained a lot of attention of the scientific community. Latest achievements in this field have proven that by utilizing the GPUs we are able to improve the computing efficiency in many computer science application domains. While other application domains strongly benefit from utilizing the GPUs, the subjects related to databases seem not to get enough attention. The GPUs in Databases workshop is devoted to sharing the knowledge related to applying GPUs in Database environments and to discuss possible future development of this application domain. TOPICS List of topics of the GID workshop includes (but is not limited to): Data compression on GPUs lossless/lossy compression and decompression real time compression and decompression of multimedia GPUs in databases and data warehouses join processing data indexing data aggregation bulk query processing analytical query processing Data mining using GPUs classification frequent itemsets and association rules frequent subgraphs sequential patterns clustering social networks mining regression Stream processing query processing in streaming databases stream compression/decompression Applications of GPUs in bioinformatics SUBMISSION All accepted papers of the workshop are to be published in CEUR workshop proceedings (http://ceur-ws.org – indexed by DBLP). The best papers will be selected and proposed to be published in LNCS series of Springer Verlag (http://www.springer.com/computer/lncs). Finally, authors of the selected papers will also be invited to prepare extended versions to be published in Foundations of Computing and Decision Science (http://fcds.cs.put.poznan.pl/FCDS2, subject to additional reviews). All contributions have to be in PDF format and have at most 14 pages using the LNCS style. All papers should be submitted electronically via email: gid2011@cs.put.poznan.pl. Papers will be refereed and accepted on the basis of their scientific merit and relevance to the workshop. Each paper will be reviewed by at least two Program Committee members. Duplicate submissions are not allowed, i.e. submitted papers must not overlap substantially with any other papers of the same author(s) submitted elsewhere (i.e. journal, conference, workshop etc.). At least one author from every submission accepted to appear in the proceedings is obliged to register and attend the ADBIS conference.
