Call For Papers

The DX-2021 program committee invites submissions of technical papers for DX-2021, to be held in Hamburg, Germany on September 13-15, 2021. The DX-2021 program committee welcomes papers on topics that are related but not limited to the following:

Formal theories and computational methods for diagnosis, that include monitoring, detection and isolation, testing, repair and therapy, reconfiguration, fault tolerance, diagnosability analysis, and other related topics.

Modeling for diagnosis that includes discrete, discrete-event, qualitative, continuous, hybrid, probabilistic, behavioral and functional modeling together with abstraction, approximation and reformulation methods. Effective modeling approaches for large systems are of particular relevance.

Computational issues in diagnosis that address combinatorial explosion, use of structural and hierarchical knowledge, focusing strategies and heuristics, resource-bounded reasoning, real-time analysis, precompilation, and other related topics.

Diagnosis processes that include strategies for measurement selection, sensor placement, active testing, embedded diagnosis, distributed diagnosis, preventive diagnosis, fault-adaptive control, and human interaction with diagnostic systems.

Connections and interplay between (AI-based) diagnosis methods and related areas: FDI, control theory, statistics, machine learning, knowledge representation, planning and optimization, autonomous systems, safety, verification, software engineering and debugging, and hardware instrumentation and testing.

Real-world applications and integrated systems in a wide range of fields including transportation, space and aeronautics, robotics, manufacturing, energy, networks and services, and medical domains.  Case studies of technology transfer that resulted in success or failure are especially welcome.

Important Dates

Paper submission deadline: 23:59 (anywhere) on May 21, 2021

Paper reviews deadline: July 1, 2021

Notification of acceptance: July 22, 2021

Registration deadline: August 15, 2021

Camera ready copies due: August 12, 2021

Workshop: September 13-15, 2021

Policy on Multiple Submissions

Many conferences (notably, IJCAI), accept duplicate submissions. The DX policy is to accept such duplicate submissions where the submission does not violate the other conference or journal policies and where the submission does not constitute self-plagiarism.

Paper Length and Format

Submitted papers must be no longer than eight pages, including all figures and references, and must be formatted according to the posted DX-2021 guidelines.  Papers must be formatted for letter paper, in double-column format with a 10pt font. Electronic templates for the LaTeX typesetting package, as well as a Microsoft Word template, that conform to the DX-2021 guidelines are available at the workshop website.

Authors are required to submit their electronic papers in PDF format. Files in postscript (ps) or any other format will not be accepted.

Over-length papers will not be considered for review. Each accepted paper will be allowed eight pages in the proceedings

Electronic Submission

Papers must be submitted electronically through https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=dx2021.

Presentation of Accepted Papers

Papers will be accepted for either oral or poster presentation. At least one author of each accepted paper is required to attend the conference to present the work. Authors will be required to agree to this requirement at the time of submission.

Review Process

Papers will be subject to peer review. Selection criteria include accuracy and originality of ideas, clarity and significance of results and quality of presentation.  The decision of the Program Committee will be final and cannot be appealed.

DX-2021 Information
Information regarding DX-2021 is disseminated through the DX-2021 website, the DX-2021 mailing list and other printed and electronic media. The information published on the DX-2021 website is authoritative and in case of conflicts takes precedence. Authors and participants are required to monitor the DX-2021 website for updates and corrections. Notifications about major updates and additions to the website will be sent through the DX-2021 mailing list.
