Call For Papers

UCAI ‘20: Workshop on User-Centered Artificial Intelligence
(http://www.ucai-sig.org/)
held in conjunction with the
Mensch und Computer 2020
Magdeburg, Germany, September 6th, 2020
(http://muc2020.mensch-und-computer.de/)

The proliferation of AI-based techniques poses a range of new challenges for the design and engineering of interactive and adaptive systems since they tend to act as black boxes and do not offer the user sufficient transparency, control, and interaction opportunities, which are considered major goals of user-centered design in the HCI field. The first Workshop on User-Centered Artificial Intelligence (UCAI ‘20), held in conjunction with the 2020 Mensch und Computer conference, aims at sharing and discussing recent developments at the intersection of HCI and AI, and at exploring novel methodological, technical, and interaction approaches. The full-day workshop will feature oral or poster presentations of accepted full and position papers, respectively, and is intended to encourage discussion, networking, and especially the development of a research agenda on future work.

* mixed-initiative interaction
* user-centric evaluation of AI-based systems
* ethical and legal aspects of AI-based systems

Papers should be prepared according to the ACM SIGCHI format used by the main conference (http://muc2020.mensch-und-computer.de/autorenrichtlinien-und-formatvorlage/) and submitted in either German or English language via ConfTool (http://www.ucai-sig.org/events/ucai20/call/). All submissions will be (single-blind) peer-reviewed by at least two committee members. For accepted papers, at least one author must attend the workshop to present the work.
