Thematic Issue on Advances in Image and Video Processing
Recently, there is an exponential growth in the volume and size of image and video data. To get meaningful insights from this huge amount of data, numerous technologies such as advanced machine learning, pattern recognition and computer vision are used. Different application areas of these technologies include biometrics, remote sensing, video surveillance, medical imaging, information hiding and visual analytics. In order to disseminate the latest developments, NED University Journal of Research plans to publish a Thematic Issue on Advances in Image and Video Processing. The issue will be published in May 2018. The aim of this Thematic Issue is to report recent advances in the field of image and video processing from researchers of both academia and industry. Further, it tends to provide an opportunity for filling the gap between image and video processing researchers and people working in other application fields such as medical, agriculture, transportation, and education. I would like to invite you and your colleagues to submit manuscripts based on studies that are theoretically sound and oriented towards practical aspects of issues related to image and video processing and their solutions. The deadline for submission of manuscript is 31 August 2017. Possible topics include, but are not limited to: Image filtering, segmentation and restoration Image super-resolution and image colorization Image/video representation, indexing and retrieval Image/video coding and compression Image/video steganography, watermarking, encryption and hashing Object detection, tracking and recognition Video surveillance Medical imaging Robotics Virtual and augmented reality Vision systems Remote sensing Machine learning and pattern recognition Deep learning and cloud computing for image/video processing Security and privacy in image/video processing Online stream processing for image/video applications Interaction, access, visualization of image/video data Real-time image/video processing for embedded systems Future applications of image/video processing The journal welcomes manuscripts from all parts of the world. Manuscripts should report on original research, or present an original framework related to previous research, theory and/or practice. Good quality case histories may also be considered for publication. Please note that all submissions will be subject to anonymous peer review by at least two expert reviewers. Selection at this stage does not guarantee publication of your work. Manuscripts should be submitted as a MS Word file through Researcher’s Web. The submission procedure and Guidelines to Authors can be found on the journal website at http://www.neduet.edu.pk/NED-Journal. Please note that there is no word limit to encourage authors to present their quality work. The submitted papers must be written in excellent English and describe original research that has not been published nor currently under review by other venues. Previously published conference papers should be clearly identified by the authors at the submission stage and an explanation should be provided about how such papers have been extended to be considered for this special issue. Extended conference contributions must have at least 50% difference from the original works (the authors must indicate the conference name and make a reference to the base conference paper). Editorial office may use tools such as Turnitin, Duplicate Submission Checks, and Google Scholar to verify that submissions are novel. Editorial office will make an initial determination on the suitability and scope of all submissions. Papers that either lack originality, clarity in presentation or fall outside the scope of the special issue will not be sent for review and the authors will be promptly informed in such cases. Final acceptance will be based on their qualities and recommendations of the reviewers. Submissions must conform to the layout and format described in the Guidelines to Authors. The authors must select Advances in Image and Video Processing when they reach the ‘Article Type’ step in the submission process.
