Smart Home and E-Health to improve the Quality of Life Special Session at the 3rd EAI International Conference on Smart Objects and Technologies for Social Good Date: 29-30, November 2017 Where: Pisa, Italy Conference website: http://goodtechs.eu/2017/ ******************************************************* * Call for papers Nowadays the research of the wellbeing in any environment is pushed forward by the advent of obtrusive technologies such as supportive platform thought to improve the quality of life. In particular, last years were characterized by a wide growing interest for the Internet of Things (IOT) applied as enabling architecture for the E-Health applications. The IOT provides a network of physical devices embedded with electronics, software, sensors and network connectivity, which enables these objects to collect and exchange data. The E-Health takes advantage from IOT to provide health services delivered or enhanced for self-monitoring healthcare platforms. In the IOT architecture applied for E-Health context, we focus our attention on Smart Homes. This particular application of IOT architecture in human life compensates people with disabilities through a complex and augmented environment. Assistive technologies aids such as electronic devices and environment control systems interconnected in a unified system can improve the quality of life of elderly and people with disabilities. These systems are not necessarily limited to the home environment, but can also be found in other environments such as a hospital, school, train station, or places to pursue leisure activities. In this context, this Special Session intends to provide a platform in which researchers, physicians, computer scientists and engineers from both academia and industry can present their experience and research work. * Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following: - Smart home environments - E-health services - Machine learning for healthcare - Wireless sensor network - Wearable sensors for health monitoring - IOT for E-Health - Smart, ubiquitous and enabling technologies for wellbeing - Personal health systems - Healthcare applications and technologies - Parallel/Distributed algorithms solutions for Smart Home - Big-data analytics, algorithms and architecture for healthcare * Submission instructions Submissions in PDF format should not exceed 10 pages. Submissions will be reviewed anonymously by at least three expert reviewers. Papers will be judged on originality, correctness, clarity, and relevance. Submission of the paper implies agreement of the author(s) to attend the conference and present the paper if accepted. We reserve the right to exclude papers accepted but not presented from the conference proceedings submitted for archiving and indexing. Accepted papers will be published in the GOODTECHS Conference Proceedings and by Springer-Verlag in the Lecture Notes of ICST (LNICST). The proceedings will be available both in book form and via the SpringerLink digital library, which is one of the largest digital libraries online and covers a variety of scientific disciplines. Proceedings are submitted for inclusion to the leading indexing services: ACM Digital Library, Elsevier (EI), Thomson Scientific (ISI), Scopus, Crossref, Google Scholar, DBLP as well as EAI's own EU Digital Library (EUDL). Full details of submission procedures are available at: http://goodtechs.eu/2017/show/initial-submission * Special issues The authors of the best papers will be invited to submit an extended version of their work through one of the following journals - Springer Monet - Springer Multimedia Tools and Applications - EAI Pervasive Health and Technology - EAI Ambient Systems - EAI Internet of Things - (possibly more to come) * Important Dates - Full Paper Submission deadline: 31 August 2017 (FINAL DEADLINE) - Notification deadline: 30 September 2017 - Camera-ready deadline: 22 October 2017 - Conference: 29-30 November 2017 * Special Session organizers - Rita Pucci (mail: pucci@di.unipi.it), Department Of Computer Science, University of Pisa, Pisa, Italy - Tiziano De Matteis (mail: dematteis@di.unipi.it), Department Of Computer Science, University of Pisa, Pisa, Italy - Juan Antonio Álvarez García (mail: jaalvarez@us.es), ETSI Informática Universidad de Sevilla, Sevilla, Spain |
