International Workshop on Big Data Applications for Smart Cities
With rapid urbanization, there is an intense demand in fulfilling the increasing expectation and the livability of their cities. New ideas focusing on environmental sustainability and urban livability has emerged globally. A smart city integrates information and communication technologies, as well as Internet of Things (IoT) solutions to reduce costs and resource consumption, enhance performance, and connect and engage more effectively and actively with its citizens. The vast and semi-structured collection of city and citizen-related data provides many opportunities for the development of smart city applications building on big data. The International Workshop on Big Data Applications in Smart Cities aims to bring together computer scientists and engineers, researchers and practitioners in the areas of environmental studies, urban planning and development, and industrial engineers to discuss challenges, research problems, and applications, and exchange research findings and visionary ideas related to big data-powered applications for smart cities. This workshop is in conjunction with IEEE Smart City Innovation 2017. Topics of Interest The topics of interest include, but not restricted to: - Smart and connected communities - Big Data and Urban Data Analytics - Case Studies and Innovative Applications - Clean Cities - Cloud Computing and Network Infrastructure for Smart Cities - Frameworks and models for Smart City Initiatives - Intelligent Transport Systems and Traffic Management - Internet of Things for Smart Cities - Intelligent Buildings - Safety, Security, and Privacy - Smart city governance - Smart Sensors and Measurement Systems - Social Computing and Networks for Smart Cities - Urban planning and development Important Dates Paper submission: April 30, 2017 Author notification: May 15, 2017 Full version submission June 10, 2017 Registration Deadline June 10, 2017 Submission Information Papers must be written in English. An electronic version (Postscript, PDF, or MS Word format) of the full paper should be submitted at https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=sci20170. All manuscripts must include a 200-word abstract and can be up to 6 pages in double-column format (include figures and references). Authors must follow IEEE Proceedings Author Guidelines to prepare manuscripts (see IEEE Template for details). Each submitted paper will be reviewed by at least three PC members. All accepted papers will be included in the symposium proceedings of IEEE Smart City Innovation 2017. At least one author of each accepted paper must register the workshop at full rate and attend the workshop in person to present the work. The accepted papers will be published as a part of IEEE Smart City Innovation 2017 Proceedings by IEEE CPS and included in the IEEE Xplore digital library. The workshop program will be included as a part of the IEEE Smart City Innovation 2017 program. The selected papers with extensions will be recommended for publication in SCI and/or EI indexed Journals. This workshop provide an exchange platform for researchers and practitioners to discuss real issues, lessons, and innovative ideas and on-going research work relating data quality and applications and we respect the works inspired by practical studies with real-world interactions. Special Issue The best papers will be recommended to Big Data Research: Special Issue on Big Data for Smart Cities. More special issues will be added in future.
