The 7th International Workshop on Peer-to-Peer Architectures, Networks and Systems (PANS 2017)
http://hpcs2017.cisedu.info/conference/workshops---hpcs2017/workshop09-pans CALL FOR PAPERS As part of The International Conference on High Performance Computing & Simulation (HPCS 2017) http://hpcs2017.cisedu.info or http://cisedu.us/rp/hpcs17 July 17-July 21, 2017 Genoa, Italy Submission Deadline: April 3, 2017 (extended) Submissions could be for full papers, short papers, poster papers, or posters SCOPE AND OBJECTIVES High Performance Computing at extreme scale sets new challenges which have to be faced to guarantee fault tolerance, resilience and reliability. The Peer-to-Peer (P2P) paradigm has emerged as highly appealing, scalable solution to tackle the above issues and the growing complexity of such software and hardware technologies. While P2P solutions put the emphasis on decentralization and sharing of resources, it employs appropriate information and communication systems without the necessity for highly central coordination. These approaches are, of course, complementary and are often combined together in modern distributed systems that avoid central coordination and human intervention. The design, implementation, and analysis of these complex systems pose several challenges, both with functional and non-functional properties, depending on network size, churn rate and application context. This workshop has the goal of providing an international forum for researchers and practitioners willing to present, discuss and exchange innovative research results and advanced topics that combine theoretical and practical approaches to modeling and high performance simulation, but also modeling and simulation of high performance (extreme scale) systems. The PANS Workshop topics include (but are not limited to) the following: - Advances in Theoretical Foundations of P2P Systems - P2P High Performance Systems, their Modeling and Simulation - Analysis of P2P-based Architectures, Applications and Services - Advanced P2P Search Algorithms (Including Range, Wildcards, and Multidimensional Search) - Mobile P2P Systems, Services and Applications - Formal Modeling and Analysis and Formal Characterization of P2P Systems - Discrete Event Modeling and Simulation of P2P Systems - Agent-based Simulation of P2P Systems - Self-organization and Autonomic solutions in P2P Systems - Novel Techniques for M&S of P2P Systems - M&S-based Development Methods Targeting P2P Systems - High Performance Fault Tolerance / Resilience of P2P at Extreme Scale - P2P Overlay Schemes Performance Evaluation - P2P Workload Characterization, Modeling and Simulation - Analysis of Emergent Behaviors in P2P Systems - Evaluation of Hybrid Systems (Client/Server Combined with P2P) - Security in P2P Systems: Availability, Access Control, Integrity - Evaluation of Trust and Reputation Systems - Countermeasures Against Free-Riding in P2P Networks - Verification at Runtime of P2P Systems - Peer-to-peer Monitoring in Wireless Sensor Networks - Real-Time Aspects, including Timing Violations for Multimedia and Other Real-Time Traffic - Analysis of novel network services supporting P2P such as RELOAD and ALTO - Impact of P2P Traffic on the Network Infrastructure - Cooperation and Collaboration in P2P systems - Green P2P Computing - Real-World and Commercial applications INSTRUCTIONS FOR PAPER SUBMISSIONS You are invited to submit original and unpublished research works on above and other topics related to synergy between parallel computing, optimisation and simulation. Submitted papers must not have been published or simultaneously submitted elsewhere. For Regular papers, please submit a PDF copy of your full manuscript, not to exceed 8 double-column formatted pages per template, and include up to 6 keywords and an abstract of no more than 400 words. Additional pages will be charged additional fee. Submission should include a cover page with authors' names, affiliation addresses, fax numbers, phone numbers, and all authors email addresses. Please, indicate clearly the corresponding author(s) although all authors are equally responsible for the manuscript. Short papers (up to 4 pages), poster papers and posters (please refer to http://hpcs2017.cisedu.info/1-call-for-papers-and-participation/call-for-posters for posters submission details) will also be considered. Please specify the type of submission you have. Please include page numbers on all preliminary submissions to make it easier for reviewers to provide helpful comments. Submit a PDF copy of your manuscript to the workshop EasyChair paper submission site at https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=pans2017. Only PDF files will be accepted, uploaded to the submission link above. Each paper will receive a minimum of three reviews. Papers will be selected based on their originality, relevance, significance, technical clarity and presentation, language, and references. Submission implies the willingness of at least one of the authors to register and present the paper, if accepted. At least one of the authors of each accepted paper will have to register and attend the HPCS 2017 conference to present the paper at the workshop. PROCEEDINGS Accepted papers will be published in the Conference proceedings. Instructions for final manuscript format and requirements will be posted on the HPCS 2017 Conference web site. It is our intent to have the proceedings formally published in hard and soft copies and be available at the time of the conference. The proceedings is projected to be included in the IEEE or ACM Digital Library and indexed in all major indexing services accordingly. SPECIAL ISSUE Plans are underway to have the best papers, in extended version, selected for possible publication in a journal as special issue. Detailed information will soon be announced and will be made available on the conference website. If you have any questions about paper submission or the symposium, please contact the workshop organizers.
