CALL FOR POSITION PAPERS WAPL 2019 7th Workshop on Advances in Programming Languages https://fedcsis.org/2019/wapl Organized within the framework of FedCSIS, the Federated Conference on Computer Science & Information Systems Leipzig, Germany, 1-4 September, 2019 http://www.fedcsis.org/ **************************************************************************************** SCOPE & TOPICS Programming languages are programmers' most basic tools. With appropriate programming languages one can drastically reduce the cost of building new applications as well as maintaining existing ones. In the last decades there have been many advances in programming languages technology in traditional programming paradigms such as functional, logic, and object-oriented programming, as well as the development of new paradigms such as aspect-oriented programming. The main driving force was and will be to better express programmers' ideas. Therefore, research in programming languages is an endless activity and the core of computer science. New language features, new programming paradigms, and better compile-time and run-time mechanisms can be foreseen in the future. The aim of this event is to provide a forum for exchange of ideas and experience in topics concerned with programming languages and systems. Original papers and implementation reports are invited in all areas of programming languages. Major topics of interest include but are not limited to the following: + Automata theory and applications + Compiling techniques + Context-oriented programming languages to specify dynamic adaptations + Domain-specific languages + Formal semantics and syntax + Generative and generic programming + Grammarware and grammar based systems + Green computing + Knowledge engineering languages + Languages and tools for trustworthy computing + Language theory and applications + Language concepts, design and implementation + Markup languages (XML) + Metamodeling and modeling languages + Model-driven engineering languages and systems + Practical experiences with programming languages + Program analysis, optimization and verification + Program generation and transformation + Programming paradigms (aspect-oriented, functional, logic, object-oriented, etc.) + Programming tools and environments + Proof theory for programs + Specification languages + Teaching programming + Type systems + Virtual machines and just-in-time compilation + Visual programming languages WAPL'2019 is integrated in FedCSIS 2019. Deadline for Position Papers: June 04, 2019, 23:59:59 pm HST (no extensions) (www.fedcsis.org; FedCSIS IEEE conference number: #45574) KEY FACTS: publication: IEEE event (multiple units); 26 events in 5 focal areas; conference fee covers lunches and 3 social events; Leipzig - historical town in Eastern Germany, place where J.S. Bach spent most of his life / professional career. The FedCSIS 2019 Federated Conference invites submissions of POSITION PAPERS to its respective events. Position papers must not exceed 8 pages and they should relate to an ongoing research or experience. Position papers will be presented by the authors alongside regular papers. Position papers may be also submitted as DEMO PAPERS and presented as demonstrations of software tools and products. They should describe non-for-profit software tools in a prototype-, alpha-, or beta-version. We invite TWO TYPES OF POSITION PAPERS: - EMERGING RESEARCH PAPERS present preliminary research results from work-in-progress based on sound scientific approach but presenting work not completely validated as yet. They must describe precisely the research problem and its rationale. They must also define the intended future work including the expected benefits from solution to the tackled problem. - CHALLENGE PAPERS propose and describe research challenges in theory or practice of computer science and information systems. The papers in this category must be based on deep understanding of existing research or industrial problems and should be defining new promising research directions. POSITION PAPER SUBMISSION AND PUBLICATION: Position papers will be published as a Volume of the Annals of Computer Science and Information Systems series (https://annals-csis.org/), with an ISBN, ISSN and DOI numbers. The papers will be submitted for indexing to DBLP Computer Science Bibliography and Google Scholar. The Annals-CSIS volume will NOT be placed in the IEEE Digital Library and will NOT be submitted to Clarivate Analytics Web of Science. Authors should submit a position paper in English, carefully checked for correct grammar and spelling, using the on-line submission procedure. The guidelines for paper formatting provided at the conference website ought to be used for all submitted papers. The required submission format is the same as the camera-ready format. Please check, and carefully follow, the instructions and templates provided. Papers that are out of the conference scope of the selected event, or that contain any form of (self)plagiarism will be rejected without reviews. All position papers will be refereed before inclusion in the conference program. IMPORTANT DATES Position paper submission (strict deadline): June 4, 2019 Author notification: June 25, 2019 Final paper submission and registration: July 10, 2019 Final deadline for discounted fee: August 1, 2019 Conference date: September 1-4, 2019 PROGRAM COMMITTEE of WAPL 2019 Maria João Varanda Pereira (Event Chair), Instituto Politecnico de Braganca, Portugal Barisic, Ankica, Universidade Nova de Lisboa, Portugal Fernandes, João Paulo, Universidade de Coimbra Horvath, Zoltan, Eotvos Lorand University, Hungary Janousek, Jan, Czech Technical University, Czech Republic Kardas, Geylani, Ege University International Computer Institute, Turkey Kern, Heiko, University of Leipzig, Germany Kollár, Ján, Technical University of Kosice, Slovakia Kosar, Tomaž, University of Maribor, Slovenia Lopes Gançarski, Alda, TELECOM SudParis, Evry, France Lukovic, Ivan, University of Novi Sad, Serbia Mandreoli, Federica, University of Modena, Italy Martínez López, Pablo E.
