CALL FOR PAPERS
Fourth International ACM SIGMOD Workshop on Managing and Mining Enriched Geo-Spatial Data 2017 (GeoRich'17)
===========================================================================================================
Held in conjunction with the 2017 ACM SIGMOD/PODS

Topic: Enriched Geo-Spatial Data
Venue: Raleigh, NC, USA
Date: May 14, 2017
URL: http://www.public.asu.edu/~jiayu2/georich17/

Both the current trends in technology such as smart phones, general mobile devices, stationary sensors and satellites, as well as a new user mentality of utilizing this technology to voluntarily share information, produce a huge flood of geo-spatial data. This data is enriched by multiple types of information or contexts, such as social, text, multimedia data and scientific measurements, called enriched geo-spatial data. This data flood provides a tremendous potential of discovering new and useful knowledge. The novel research challenge is to search and mine this wealth of multi-enriched geo-spatial data. The focus of this workshop is to analyze what has been achieved so far and how to further exploit the enormous potential of this data flood. Its ultimate goal is to develop a general framework of methods for searching and mining enriched geo-spatial data in order to fuel an advanced analysis of big data applications beyond the current research frontiers.

The aim of this workshop is to provide a unique forum for discussing in depth the challenges, opportunities, novel techniques and applications on modeling, managing, searching and mining rich geo-spatial data, in order to fuel scientific research on big spatial data applications. The workshop is intended to bring together researchers from different fields of databases, data-science and geo-science that deal with the management of spatial and spatio-temporal data, social network data, textual data, multimedia data, semantic data and ontologies, uncertain data, and other common types of geo-referenced data. In particular, we invite submissions covering topics from the following non-exclusive list in the context of semantically enriched geospatial data, such as spatio-textual, spatio-temporal, spatio-social, geo-social network, mobile and wireless data:

* Data models and representation
* Uncertainty and user-generated geospatial content
* Quality control and assurance
* Geospatial data fusion techniques
* Privacy and confidentiality
* Synthesis of multi-source data
* Analysis of multi-source data
* Data management
* Data stream management and mobile computing
* Spatial reasoning and analysis
* Data extraction techniques including NLP
* Computing/algorithms and geospatial uncertainty
* Crowdsourcing computing resources
* Non-traditional visualization techniques
* Temporal enriched geo data
* Data-mining on enriched geo data

The workshop will be organized in a manner that fosters interaction and exchange of ideas among the participants. Besides paper presentations, time will be allocated to open discussion forums, poster presentations, informal discussions or panels. In addition to regular papers, vision or work-in-progress papers that have the potential to stimulate debate on existing solutions or open challenges are especially encouraged. Proposals for panels on newly-emerging or controversial topics are also especially welcome.

All papers must be submitted through https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=georich2017.
