Portuguese Language Journal Call for Papers

Special Issue for Fall 2010: “Building, Growing, and Maintaining Portuguese Programs”

It has been thirty years since Bobby J. Chamberlain edited a collection of essays called "Building a Portuguese Program." Much has changed in the teaching of Portuguese and the number of students is at a record high. Teaching Portuguese now involves a new range of students (Spanish-speakers, heritage Portuguese speakers, older learners, businessmen and women), new technologies, new textbooks, and new approaches.

Papers of two types are welcome: First, short 5-6pp “how-to” articles that address how problems were solved, how programs were established from scratch, how new majors/minors were created, etc. Second, longer theoretical/scholarly articles that develop and document a thesis that is pertinent to the topic.

Guest editor: Dr. Margo Milleret, University of New Mexico

Submission deadline: March 15, 2010

Direct any questions or your submission to: milleret@unm.edu with “PLJ-2010” in the subject heading.
