Concurrency and Computation: Practice and Experience
Special Issue on: Recent Advance in Security and Privacy for Smart Society The Cyber Physical Systems (CPS) present unprecedented opportunities for society progressively moving towards a socio-technical ecosystem. Big data collected from numerous CPS, connected via the advanced 4G/LTE and the near future 5G networks across various interfaces and locations, will facilitate more sophisticated Smart Decision Making and Personalised Services. Security vulnerabilities in CPS, however, leave users or even the entire smart society at risk. Besides, rapid on-going evolution in the technical architectures and topologies of the Internet brings new security challenges to the fore. The migration of networks to Software Defined Networking and Network Functions Virtualization, particularly, captures attention on the security of orchestration, management functionality, surveillance as well as privacy. Novel security schemes are, therefore, in urgent demand to enhance the reliability, robustness, and privacy of smart society. The focus of this special issue intends to gather innovative research work on building a secure smart society in next-generation networking paradigm. The aim is to establish an understanding of the potential security vulnerabilities and threat models, as well as to develop security architectures and defending mechanisms for CPS and next-generation network infrastructures. The topics of interest may include but are not limited to the followings: • Security and privacy of CPS including IoT o Threat Models in CPS o Attack Strategies for CPS o Security Architectures o Reliable Interactions with Network Services o System and Data Integrity o Scalability and Robustness for CPS o Identity Management in CPS o Trustworthiness in CPS o Privacy in CPS o Adaptive Security in CPS o Secure CPS interactions o Secure CPS architecture design • Secure 5G networks o Core Network Security o Cellular security o Physical Layer Security o Terminal and Edge Computing Security o Security Management and Orchestration of NFV and SDN elements o Trusted Computing with NFV and SDN o Protocol security: Diameter, SS7, BGP etc. o 5G wireless communications • General network security schemes for next generation networking o Malware and attack detection and prevention techniques o Authentication and Authorisation o Encryption protocols, e.g. homomorphic encryption o Key Exchange, Storage and Protection o Honeypot and Firewall Technologies o Software vulnerability testing, or reverse engineering. o Formal Specification and Analysis of Protocols and Attacks, e.g. model checking etc. o Blockchain technologies o Cloud computing This special issue accepts unpublished original research articles and the substantially-extended versions of distinguished conference/workshop papers. Important date: • Submission deadline: July 31, 2019 • First review results: October 31, 2019 • Revised manuscript due: January 31, 2020 • Final decision: March 31, 2020 • Final version deadline: April 30, 2020 • Publication (Tentative): Mid/Late 2020 Submissions must follow these guidelines: • Submit at Manuscript central (http://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/cpe) as RASPSS19 special issue • Submissions should be prepared for publication according to the journal submission guidelines (http://www.cc-pe.net/journalinfo/authors.html) • The submitted papers must have at least 50% extension from the conference original papers.
