Call For Papers

The 1st International Workshop on Reservoir Computing (RC 2019)

Workshop of the 28th International Conference on Artificial Neural Networks (ICANN 2019)

https://sites.google.com/view/reservoir-computing-workshop/

* Scope and Topics *
Reservoir Computing (RC) is a leading edge paradigm for the design of efficiently trainable Recurrent Neural Network models. The first International Workshop on Reservoir Computing (RC 2019) will bring together researchers to discuss the state-of-the-art and open challenges for the field of RC, in all its declinations. These include, but are not limited to, new models of Echo State Networks and Liquid State Machines, non-conventional hardware implementations, new emerging paradigms (e.g., conceptors), extensions of RC to complex streams of data, hybrids of deep and shallow models, modeling of neuronal dynamics, and many more. The workshop provides an open forum for researchers to meet and present recent contributions and ideas in a highly interdisciplinary environment.

Potential topics of interest for the workshop include (without being limited to) the following:

- Echo State Networks, Liquid State Machines
- Theoretical analysis of Reservoir Computing
- Hybrids of fully-trained and RC models
- Deep reservoir models
- Reservoir Computing for structured domains (trees, graphs, networks, ...)
- Emerging paradigms of computation inspired to RC
- Time-delay Reservoir Computing
- Neuromorphic computing and Non-conventional hardware implementations of RC
- Reservoir Computing in Neuroscience
- Novel application fields for the RC paradigm

* Important Dates *
Paper submission deadline: 15 March 2019
Notification of acceptance: 1 May 2019
ICANN 2019 Conference dates: 17-19 September 2019, Munich, Germany

* Papers Submission *
Contributions for the RC 2019 workshop should be submitted through the ICANN 2019 submission system and will undergo the same careful peer-review process by a panel of experts in the field.

See more info at https://sites.google.com/view/reservoir-computing-workshop/submission

* Workshop Proceedings *
Papers accepted for the RC 2019 workshop are published by Springer in Lecture Notes in Computer Science (LNCS) within the ICANN 2019 proceedings.

* Special Issue *
Selected papers from the RC 2019 workshop will be invited for a special issue on the journal Cognitive Computation (Springer, IF 3.479).

* Workshop Organizers *
Claudio Gallicchio, (University of Pisa, Italy)
Alessio Micheli (University of Pisa, Italy)
Simone Scardapane (La Sapienza University of Rome, Italy)
Miguel C. Soriano (University of the Balearic Islands, Spain)

The RC2019 Workshop is organized as part of the activities of the IEEE Task Force on Reservoir Computing (TFRC).
