Web 2.0: Opportunities and Challenges for Social Recommender Systems
( http://nortia.det.uvigo.es/SocialRS ) invited session at the 14th International Conference on Knowledge-Based and Intelligent Information & Engineering Systems (KES) ( http://kes2010.kesinternational.org/index.php ) 8-10 September 2010 Cardiff, Wales, UK Scope Recommender systems have been around for several years as tools that help the users discover items (web pages, multimedia contents, commercial products, etc) they may be interested in. The goal of this session is to discuss the opportunities and challenges that arise in the recommenders' area with the advent of the Web 2.0, since it should be possible to learn much from the users' networks of contacts, from the (unstructured) clouds of tags that may surround the items, etc. We welcome papers describing ongoing research or experiments with recommender systems grounded on social networking, in such aspects as user profiles, item characterization, reasoning techniques about underlying metadata structures (ontologies, folksonomies and any others in between), recommendation strategies, etc. Publication Accepted papers will be published in the KES proceedings by Springer-Verlag in Lecture Notes in AI as part of the LNCS/LNAI series. Submission Just like for the main track of KES, papers must be submitted in electronic form using the PROSE software review system. For formatting, please refer to the Springer-Verlag web site, and follow the Instructions to LNCS Authors. Papers are required in PDF format for review purposes. The maximum length is eight pages in Springer format. Important dates - Submission of papers: 15 March 2010 - Notification of acceptance: 15 April 2010 - Receipt of publication files: 1 May 2010 - Registration deadline: 8 May 2010 Session chairs Jose Juan Pazos-Arias (jose@det.uvigo.es) Full Professor, Department of Telematics Engineering, University of Vigo. Ana Fernandez Vilas (avilas@det.uvigo.es) Associate Professor, Department of Telematics Engineering, University of Vigo. Call for Papers |
