First International Workshop on
Smart Environments for Disaster Management (SEDM-2011) http://www.derby.ac.uk/computing/research/sedm2011 in conjunction with the 6th IEEE International Conference on P2P, Parallel, Grid, Cloud and Internet Computing (3PGCIC-2011) October 26-28, 2011, Barcelona, Spain http://www.lsi.upc.edu/~net4all/3PGCIC-2011/index.html Aims and Scope The first International Workshop on Smart Environments for Disaster Management (SEDM-2011) is dedicated to the dissemination of completed or work in progress original contributions that are related to the theories, practices and concepts of smart environments and emerging collective and collaborative technologies for the specific purpose of managing disasters. That is to say, SEDM-2011 is focused on the applicability – for the purpose of managing disasters - of autonomous adaptation to complex dynamic environments caused from highly dynamic user contexts. In particular, SEDM-2011 will discuss relevant advances in situated and pervasive computing, that is to say about computing devices having the autonomous ability of adapting, detecting, interpreting and responding to the user’s smart environment. SEDM-2011 will highlight issues from various stakeholders’ perspectives. Thus, advances of applicable technologies including smart spaces and sensors, context-aware, situated and pervasive computing, geographical information systems, ad-hoc mobile networks, wireless communications, grid and cloud computing, social networks, Web 2.0 and crowd sourcing will to be explored and discussed. The scope of CIDM-2011 is to demonstrate the increased applicability and impact of smart environments and collective intelligence in satisfying the disaster’s management domain challenging requirements. Finally, CIDM-2011 aims to provide a forum for original discussion and prompt future directions in the emerging area. Topics: Papers should be focused on past, current and emerging methods and/or use of technologies with a particular focus to smart environments for managing disasters. Authors are invited to submit their 4 to 6 pages long manuscripts (with up to 5 keywords) following the IEEE 8.5 two-column format. All papers will be peer reviewed by at least two or more independent referees of the SEDM-2011 Workshop programme committee and accepted on the basis of their scientific merit, originality, significance, technical soundness, and clarity of exposition. Proceedings All accepted submissions of the SEDM workshop papers will be included in the main proceedings of the conference. All accepted papers must be accompanied by a full paid registration by at least one of the authors in order to be included in the proceedings. Accepted papers will be published by the IEEE Conference Publishing Services (CPS) and archived in the Digital Library. Previous proceedings of the 3PGCIC conferences are available on the IEEE website (www.ieee.org, Xplore service, only abstracts are free).
