Smart grids have been proposed as a mechanism to modernize energy grids. In a smart grid, sensors, computers and communication networks are integrated into the power generation, transmission, distribution, and load elements. Big data in the smart grid is generated from various sources such as energy consumption data measured by smart meters, operation data from devices in the power infrastructure, data from sensors distributed over transmission and distribution networks, and auxiliary data such as weather, geographic information system, social media, and energy market data.
The purpose of this workshop is to gather experts in multi-disciplinary fields and discuss research at the intersection of big data and smart grids. Topics of interest Big data platforms for smart grids Data representation and modeling in smart grids Data integration in smart grids Social and media data analysis in smart grids Big data visualization in smart grids Big data analysis for secure smart grids Program Committee Wilson Rivera, University of Puerto Rico, USA (Chair) Manuel Rodriguez, University of Puerto Rico, USA (Co-Chair) Pelin Angin, Purdue University, USA Fabio Andrade, University of Puerto Rico, USA Suren Byna, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, USA Christine Chan, University of Regina, Canada Agustín Irizarry, University of Puerto Rico, USA George K.
