CALL FOR PAPERS DEADLINE EXTENDED TO AUGUST 20, 2016.

Conference Theme: ”Development & Disruption: Continuity and Change”

The Seventh IAFOR Asian Business & Management Conference is held in the great historical industrial and cultural Japanese hub of the Kansai, comprising the Kobe-Osaka metropolis, with nearby Kyoto.

Asia is the world’s economic motor, and Japan, as the world’s third largest economy, sits between a rising but unstable China, and a far from fading US. As well as the economies of the big three, the dynamic city states, growing powerhouses such as Indonesia and Malaysia, and the smaller developing economies, make Asia a wonderful sea of opportunities, but also challenges, and a fascinating place to both do, and study business.

This year’s conference theme invites scholars to look at Asia’s area of change, including the opening and development of new markets and economies, and disruption both in the form of positive new technologies and innovations, as well as more worrying changes and slowdowns amid continued uncertainty in financial markets and economies, as well as political instability. What have been the recent big stories in business and finance in Asia, and what are the big stories around the corner? Is Abenomics faltering or is Japan about to enter into a period of renewed growth? Will China provide more shocks for the world in 2016 as it tries to bring about limited political and economic reforms? Is there a Chinese bubble, and will it explode violently? Where are the places experiencing dynamic growth, and what are the environmental costs? How sustainable are the markets in Asia? What changes might the TPP herald? What are the areas for positive and bullish excitement, and what and where are the causes for concern?

This international conference invites scholars, practitioners and businesspeople from around the globe to present the latest in research and practice, and discuss the most recent trends and policy developments as we help discover and chart the changing business landscape in Asia and the wider global context, as well as highlight and situate the continuing and central role of Japan.
