Sensors and sensor networks offer unprecedented capabilities of building smart systems through sensing and monitoring applications, which provide tremendous benefits to society. Wired and wireless sensors and sensor networks are actively being researched in recent years due to their potential uses in diverse areas such as enhanced homeland security, conservation of natural resources, improved manufacturing productivity, improved emergency response, efficient energy utilization, food safety, automation of transportation systems, automatic environment and structure monitoring. Advances in sensors, sensor technologies and systems will help wide adaptation of sensors in all areas of our daily life.
ASTSA-2011 will serve as a forum for researchers from academia, government, industries, professionals, standard developers, policy makers, students and practitioners to exchange ideas, present new results and provide future visions of the impact sensors will have in our life. Original technical papers on the advances in sensor technologies, systems and applications, as well as those that describe practical deployment and implementation experiences are solicited for presentation and publication.
