INBAST 2016: Fifth Workshop on Industrial and Business Applications of Semantic Technologies and Knowledge-based information systems

In conjunction with the
OnTheMove Federated Conferences and Workshops (OTM 2016)
24-28.10.2016, Rhodes, Greece

Call for Papers

Several types of semantic technologies and knowledge-based systems have been developed in the last decades and nowadays are being implemented in different industrial and business systems in order to provide software tools and methods that allow the management of knowledge and structured information in a more intelligent manner. Knowledge in information systems is becoming more and more crucial because the domains of software applications are inherently knowledge-intensive. These applications require storing, understanding, managing and reasoning about that knowledge and structured information from different domains. Academia and Industry have realized that the Semantic and Knowledge-based technologies are crucial to help solve important challenges in organizations as the integration and interoperability of intra and inter business processes.

This type of technology draws on standard and novel techniques from various disciplines within Computer Science, including Knowledge Engineering, Natural Language Processing, Artificial Intelligence, Databases and Software Agents. The methods and tools developed and integrated for this purpose are generic and have a very large application potential in many fields like Information Retrieval, Semantic Searches, Information Integration, Information Interoperability, Bioinformatics, eHealth, eLearning, Automation Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, eCommerce, eGovernment, or Social Networks, among others.

The goal of the workshop is the feasibility of investigating advanced Semantic and Knowledge-based methods and techniques and their application in different domains.

Topics

Topics of interest in this workshop include, but are not restricted to:

Knowledge Representation and Reasoning
Knowledge Acquisition
Ontological Engineering
Ontology Sharing and Reuse

Linked Data Applications
Industrial applications and Case-studies

Important Dates

Abstracts due: July 1, 2016
Papers due: July 15, 2016
Acceptance Notification: August 14, 2016
Camera-ready copies: August 30, 2016 (firm deadline)
Registration due: August 30, 2016 (firm deadline)
OTM Conferences: October 24-28, 2016
Second Camera-ready upload (optional): December 1, 2016

Submission

Submit a full paper of at most 10 pages (Springer LNCS formatting guidelines http://www.springer.de/comp/lncs/authors.html ), including figures and references. The contact author must provide the workshop chairs with the following information: title of the proposal, authors' names, affiliation, postal and e-mail address of the author(s), about 200-250 word abstract, and about five keywords. Submit a PDF file to the workshop organizers using the OTM conference management system.

Submitting a paper implies that, should the paper be accepted, at least one of the authors will register and present the paper in the conference. Submissions will be reviewed by at least 2 PC members following a double-blind review process. Accepted papers will be given guidelines in preparing and submitting the final manuscript(s) together with the notification of acceptance.

Author instructions can be found at: http://www.springer.de/comp/lncs/authors.html.

Paper submission site: http://submissions.onthemove-conferences.org/2016/inbast

Accepted workshop papers (regular papers or short papers) will be published by Springer Lecture Notes in Computer Science (LNCS) in the OTM 2016 post-conference Workshop Proceedings. Papers published in these Proceedings will be indexed by ISI, ACM Digital Library,DBLP and Google Scholar. The deadline for the upload of an accepted Draft camera ready (CR) version and of the copyright form is 30 August 2016. However, for all accepted workshop papers there is an additional (optional) “Final CR” upload deadline on 1st December 2016, allowing authors to correct and improve their submissions based on their participation in the OnTheMove event. Final CR papers must respect the original copyright form (only submitted once) by title, authors and content.

Failure to commit to presentation at the workshop automatically excludes a paper from the post-conference Workshop Proceedings.
