This will be a one-day workshop designed to bring together partners from industry, academia, government, and non-profits to discuss challenges associated with "big data" in health-related fields. We are looking for participants from a wide range of disciplines, including genomics, health informatics, food/agriculture for health, medical billing and insurance, and any other area that touches on improving the wellness and livelihood of the community. All are welcome. Registration is free for the first 45 participants. The morning session will include discussions on challenges in the realm of big data as it relates to health and how to overcome these challenges with collaboration and team science based approaches. We will hold a lunchtime panel where industry partners will be given a platform to discuss specific challenges and hopes for the future in their own line of work. In the afternoon, we will hold parallel sessions - a technical session including a gentle introduction to the R programming language for beginner to intermediate participants, and a breakout session where we will hold discussions on specific areas of big data challenges, such as data management, analysis, and computing needs. The day will end with a poster session, open to all, and reception. You can register at http://tiny.cc/bigdatahealthworkshop.
