Parizi – Department of Software Engineering and Game Development, Kennesaw State University, USA – rparizi1@kennesaw.edu Theme Rapid advances are being made in blockchain technology, as evidenced both in the number of published papers and the number of active researchers. Blockchain is a foundational and platform technology considering its existing offerings and it is expected to be a key enabling technology and a new general purpose technology to revolutionize the business activities and interactions in the future considering its economic, political, humanitarian, and legal system benefits. Blockchain has diverse applications and has the potential to be leveraged in different aspects of management and technology. For example, blockchain characteristics such as decentralization, verifiability and immutability, can be utilized to ensure authenticity, reliability and integrity of data and business activities underpinning our modern society and economy. All existing technological, management and engineering related systems and frameworks lack of a revised understanding of blockchain-based constellations. Yet, little is known about factors related to management and technical decisions to adopt this technology and how it can ‘engineeringly’ be put into better use to address current and emerging blockchain technology and platform related issues. This special issue aims to foster the united investigations on cutting-edge research from both academia and industry to explore the latest and innovative guidelines, concepts, techniques, and industrial-strength and open-source tools for perceiving and managing blockchain in an engineering-supported manner. The main theme of this issue is to put more management and engineering oriented approaches into blockchain technology for more efficient and effective engineering management practices and solutions, allowing one to contribute to advances in blockchain innovation, research, education and practices. The special issue welcomes contributions in the following technological and management themes, but is not limited to them: Technological themes: •Blockchain + Cybersecurity •Blockchain + Artifical Intelligence •Blockchain + Data Science •Blockchain + Internet of Things (IoT) •Blockchain + Fintech •Blockchain tools, platforms, and methods Management themes: •Blockchain enabled new business systems, models and applications •Blockchain-based trust and regulation mechanisms •New business relationships and activities based on smart contracts and distributed ledger •Blockchain for decentralization and distributed systems •Management processes and methods based on blockchain •Blockchain for crowdsourcing •Blockchain based knowledge and innovation management •Financial systems and blockchain •New policies for blockchain Submission Process: Please prepare the manuscript according to IEEE-TEM’s guidelines (http://ieee-tmc.org/tem-guidelines) for submission via the journal’s Manuscript Central site (https://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/tem-ieee).
