CALL FOR PAPERS --------------------------------- International Workshop on Computational Sustainability and Big Data (CoSBD'2017) Conference 21st-23rd June, 2017 http://www.paams.net/workshops/cosbd --------------------------------- SCOPE --------------------------------- As this world becomes more interconnected, the more data and information becomes available not only to monitor, but act upon the world and society. In turn, the amount of data and information generated is increasing at an even faster pace. Addressing the needs of this society is a complex task which requires different approaches. The field of computational sustainability is often inherently dependent on how data stream are handled, and how information and knowledge is generated. Despite being addressed as a new nomenclature, Computational Sustainability has been applied since the use of optimization and planning strategies with the aid of computer science itself. Nevertheless, the current developments in the internet of things, big data, smart-cities and intelligent environments demand new approaches to improve and solve problems handling large quantities of data which can be used to the benefit of society. The range of topics covered in this workshop are focused on the application of computer science techniques to solve real world problem inside the theme of Computational Sustainability. Taking the definition of Sustainability dimensions: environment, economic and social, this workshop concern the development of new and modern applications for computational sustainability that can be combined with smart-city services, internet of things and handle big data and data streams in learning, planning and acting tasks to the betterment of the society and societal services. It is not uncommon that applications span across topics such as human well-being, human behaviour and activity tracking, city transportation systems, city buildings management, renewable energy and energy efficiency. This workshop has as its main objective the demonstration of new and original research on the topics related as well as to generate a discussion forum among peers. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Topics of interest include, although are not limited to: --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Computational Sustainability; Applications for Computational Sustainability; Big Data Applications; Internet of Things; Smart-Cities; Information Diffusion; Crowdsource Applications; Decision Support Systems; Ubiquitous Computing; Planning and Scheduling; --------------------------------- Important Dates --------------------------------- Paper submission: 6th February, 2017 Notification of acceptance: 13th March, 2017 Camera Ready: 27th March, 2017 Conference Dates: 21-23 June, 2017 --------------------------------- Submission Guidelines: --------------------------------- All proposed papers must be submitted in electronic form (PDF format) using the PAAMS 2017 conference management system.
