Call For Papers

CALL FOR PAPERS
The study of the historical ties between North America and Spain is of vital importance for the Social Sciences and Humanities. Furthermore, the present and future of its inhabitants is marked and defined by economic and cultural ties. Current trends in globalization cannot be understood or analyzed outside the framework of these connections.
The City College of New York – Division of Interdisciplinary Studies, the Cervantes Institute of New York, and the University of Alcala Franklin Institute join for the second year in organizing this conference through this call for papers in different disciplines and areas of study with an emphasis on interdisciplinary approaches to the historical links between Spain and North America. The primary aim of the conference is to provide a meeting place for academics and professionals with an interest in other disciplines related to this subject as well as to interact with other members within and outside their own disciplines in the areas of Humanities and Social Sciences.
The conference is organized in sections with different focal points. The following topics will be prioritized:
A. Colonial Studies.
B. Postcolonial Studies.
C. Links in Education.
D. Cultural Studies.
E. International Relations.
F. Economy and Labor / Corporations in the XXI century.
G. Science and Technology.
H. Military and Security Policy.
Proposals for panels containing three lectures on the same topic are also welcome.

Submission of proposals:
Proposals should consist of a title and an abstract of 250-300 words and a brief biography (100-150 words). Proposals must be sent through the conference website. Papers may be in Spanish or English. Submission Deadline: November 30, 2015.
Proposals for panels containing three lectures on the same topic are also welcome.
Lectures: Lectures will have a maximum duration of 15 minutes will be organized in panels containing three papers. Participants will receive a certificate of attendance and participation.
Publication: After the conference, the organizing committee will announce the deadline for submitting articles. An editorial committee will evaluate them and those selected will be published in paper.
