Introduction:

Internet of Things (IoT) is emerging as new paradigm in the development and deployment of Internet, and also seen as a next generation of ICT evolution. It is forecasted that in near future, IoT will change everything, including every aspect of our lives because of its direct impact on communication, education, healthcare, environment, infrastructure, manufacturing, energy, food, transport, business, science, community, humanity and many more. In IoT, things would be seamlessly integrated in information frameworks, sharing data and creating the knowledge intelligently. Wireless networks are likely to be key technologies for the IoT. In addition to the use of licensed spectrum for wireless networks, it is important to explore other technical solutions and frequency bands to ensure that the IoT is allowed to flourish. Utilization of TV White Spaces (TVWS) is one of the challenges for such applications which requires co-operation between industry and government authorities for the efficient use of spectrum. It will be vital to ensure the sufficient spectral resources to support a wide range of devices, technologies, and applications. Use of white spaces would also help in bridging the gap of digital divide by providing the Internet connectivity at affordable cost to the underprivileged communities in the developing nations.

After a grand success of IEEE co-sponsored International Conference on Internet of Things and Applications (www.iota2016.org) organized in January 2016, now we have planned an International Workshop on Internet of Things and TV White Spaces (WIOT’ 2017) to provide a platform for the focused and distinguished professionals from Industry, academia and Government organizations working in the field of IoT and TVWS to share and discuss the latest advances, challenges faced by various ecosystem players and coming up with possible approaches for developing countries. The workshop would feature keynotes, tutorials, workshops, oral, and poster paper presentations.

Workshops/Tutorials Submission Guidelines:

Proposals are invited from groups or individuals interested to host workshops and tutorials on workshop theme and relevant fields. The purpose of workshops and tutorials is to provide an opportunity for participants from academia, industry, government and other related parties to present and discuss novel ideas on current and emerging topics relevant to theme. We encourage workshops that bring together people working on new and developing research topics that stimulate highly interactive discussions. Tutorial proposals are encouraged that go in-depth into topics of interest to the Internet of Things and TVWS community.

The proposer should seek funding for travel and accommodation their own. The organizers would provide venue and registration support. However, partial expenses of some the proposers those who do not have sufficient funding may be borne by the organizers on case to case basis, and subject to availability of funds. Please submit proposals containing following information in MS Word/PDF format (2 to 3 pages) to wiot@mitpune.edu.in, bharat.chaudhari@mitpune.edu.in.
