CALL FOR PAPERS
International Symposium on Advances in Power and Energy Systems -APES 2015- October 26 – 28, 2015 Marina del Rey, USA SPONSOR The International Association of Science and Technology for Development (IASTED) LOCATION Indenting the Pacific coastline of Los Angeles is the charming locale of Marina del Rey, California. Surrounding the world’s largest man-made harbor, the city’s marina docks over 5,000 yachts, speedboats, cruise ships, and pleasure craft of all descriptions. Marina del Rey—meaning Marina of the King—is only minutes by car from LAX airport, and just a few miles from such L.A. hotspots as Beverly Hills, Santa Monica, and Venice. Visitors will enjoy Fisherman’s Village, a waterfront promenade in the style of a New England fishing village, featuring panoramic views of the marina and the Pacific, trendy restaurants catering to all appetites, and event venues that come alive with free concerts and open-air festivals. Boating enthusiasts have plenty to choose from, with motorboats and kayaks available to rent, as well as harbor cruises, chartered yachts, sportfishing excursions, and whale-watching tours all on offer. PURPOSE The International Symposium on Advances in Power and Energy Systems (APES 2015) will bring together researchers from diverse academic backgrounds and multiple countries. This event will enable researchers to share their unique experiences while exploring the latest developments and various specialties that characterize the broad field of power and energy systems. SCOPE The topics of interest to be covered by APES 2015 include, but are not limited to: Alternative Energy Network Harmonics Artificial Intelligence Applications Optimization Techniques Communication Photovoltaic Power Systems Control and Protection Power Distribution Cybersecurity Power Economics Education and Training Power Electronics Electrical Machines Power Generation Energy Management Power Quality Energy Storage Power System Analysis and Design Environmental Impact Power System Planning Fault Diagnosis Power System Safety Forecasting Power System Stability Home Automation Power Transmission Metering Smart Grids Micro-grids Solar Power Modelling and Simulation Wind Power SUBMISSION Submit your paper to our website at: www.iasted.org/conferences/submit-831.html. All submissions should be in Adobe Acrobat (.PDF) format. Papers must be received by September 14, 2015. Receipt of paper submission will be confirmed by email. Authors submitting their papers early will receive notification at an earlier date. Initial Paper Requirements All papers submitted to the conference must be previously unpublished and may not be considered for publication elsewhere at any time during the conference review period. Authors are limited to a maximum of three paper submissions. Initial paper submissions should be full papers. Papers of up to 8 pages in length are included in the conference registration fee. An extra charge will apply for every additional page for papers longer than 8 pages. Authors are responsible for having their papers checked for style and grammar before submitting to them. Papers may be rejected if the language is not satisfactory. When submitting a paper, complete the online initial paper submission form, designating an author who will attend the conference, and provide four key words to indicate the subject area of your paper. At least one of the key words must be taken from the list of topics provided under Scope, above. Formatting instructions for initial papers are available at www.iasted.org/formatting-initial-page.html. Reviewing All papers submitted to this conference will be double-blind peer reviewed by at least two members of the International Program Committee and related technical committees. Acceptance will be based primarily on originality, significance, technical soundness, presentation, and references. The conference chair makes the final decision on the acceptance or rejection of the paper. Acceptance and Registration Notification of acceptance will be sent via email by September 28, 2015. Final manuscripts are due by October 12, 2015. Registration and final payment are due by October 12, 2015. Late registration fees or paper submissions will result in the papers being excluded from the conference proceedings. Only one paper of up to eight pages is included in the regular registration fee. There will be an added charge for extra pages and additional papers. Final Paper Requirements The final paper must be correctly formatted and submitted online at http://pdfportal.iasted.org. The formatting instructions can be found at: www.iasted.org/formatting-final-page.html and must be strictly followed. The page limit for final papers is eight single-spaced pages in 10 point Times New Roman font. We are pleased to announce that the proceedings will be "Gold" Open Access. Under this model, readers will be granted access to the proceedings free of charge, and the authors will retain copyright to their work. The proceedings will be published under a Creative Commons Attribution. By using such a model, we hope to increase knowledge-sharing and the transfer of ideas, which will ultimately benefit the scientific community as a whole. TUTORIALS Submission Proposals for three-hour tutorials must be submitted online by September 14, 2015. Submit tutorial proposals via the following web site address: www.iasted.org/conferences/submittutorial.aspx?id=831. Proposal Format A tutorial proposal should clearly indicate: The topic. Background knowledge expected of the participants. Objectives. Time allocations for the major course topics. The qualifications of the instructor(s). SPECIAL SESSION Special session proposals must be emailed to usa@iasted.org by August 11, 2015. Proposals should include a session title, a list of the topics covered, and the qualifications and brief biography of the session organizer(s). Papers submitted to the special session must be received by August 11, 2015, unless otherwise stipulated by the Special Session Organizer. A minimum of five papers must be registered and fully paid in order for this session to be included in the conference program. JOURNALS All the papers submitted to this conference will be considered for possible publication in a special issue of an international journal.
