This year's Genomic Medicine Cambridge is the third annual event organized by Biotexcel, East of Anglia Genetics Service, Clinical Genetics at the University Cambridge and the East of England NHS Genomic Medicine Center. The focus of the scientific discussions of this even will be on the high throughput genomic technologies, particularly Next Generation Sequencing, and their application in the research and clinical analysis of human diseases. This year we will host particularly interesting talks from opinion leaders such as Prof Willem Ouwehand, the head of the NHS Blood & Transplant research group; Dr Marc Tischkowitz, the reader and honorary consultant who will talk about hereditary cancer and the translation of genomics into clinical practice; Dr Hilary Martin, Group Leader of Human Genetics at Sanger who will present population and medical genetics of highly consanguine groups and Dr Ines Barroso, the leader of Metabolic Disease group who will give a presentation about the genomic approaches to metabolic disorders. Additionally, to many other speakers who will talk about their findings and advances in this field, this year we will give special attention to the delegates too, who will have the opportunity to share their experience, findings and preferences in regard to particular genomic platforms, kits and applications. We also welcome posters. If you would like to present your poster, please send us an abstract.
