Call For Papers

Ubiquitous Television (UTV) focuses on the redefinition of the television with a new paradigm of accessing the television at anytime, from anywhere and through any device. Consumers are increasingly turning to the Internet and mobile devices for various types of media transmitted over Internet Protocol (IP), such as TV programs and user-generated contents. Beyond the broadcasting of audio-visual programs, the landscape of TV consists of a few new “technology domains? The newly emerging domains provide specific types of multimedia and operate in specific environments, whereas the traditional TV usually focus on high quality professional media contents and operates in tightly managed environment. With the evolution of Triple Play and multimedia services, the broadcasting TV system is challenged by Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) in terms of pervasiveness, openness and user experience. The real power of IPTV is in the merging of entertainment and communication on an IP-based network, which provides significant opportunities to make the TV experience more interactive and personalized. Meanwhile, another advantage of an IP-based network is the opportunity for true convergence. With the advantage of an All-over-IP network, the opportunity for integration and convergence is amplified. One of the most prominent examples is the Web-Telecom convergence, which benefits from mixing the Web’s openness and flexibility with the Telecom’s reliability and trustworthiness. Considering that the original broadcasting network still works as the main TV delivery channel, the next generation ubiquitous TV will be the convergence of Broadcasting, Internet and Telecom.

UTV 2011 seeks original high quality contributions addressing innovative research in the broad field of TV, media and Internet. All accepted papers will be included in the conference proceeding published by IEEE Press (IEEE eXpress Conference Publishing group) and will be included in the IEEE Xplorer.
