The mid-infrared spectral domain is critically important and has considerable significance to fundamental science and technological applications. In recent years, we have witnessed dramatic development and numerous demands on Mid-Infrared Lasers (MID-IRL) for a variety of applications including spectroscopy, microscopy, remote sensing, free space communication, industrial controlling, natural resources prospecting, material processing, electronic medicine, defense related applications, etc.
To gather researchers and practitioners interested in MID-IRL theories and techniques, and to bring together the state-of-the-art research results, industrial applications, and also the science challenges of MID-IRL, Journal of Electronic Science and Technology (JEST) plans to publish the Special Section on MID-IRL in Sep. 2015 (vol. 13, no. 3, JEST). Authors are invited to submit unpublished manuscripts, which are not under review in any other conferences or journals, in the following topic areas, but not limited to:

• MID-IR Fiber Lasers
• MID-IR Super Continnum (SC) Generation
• MID-IR Solid State Lasers
• MID-IR OPO Lasers
• MID-IR Semiconductor Materials and Lasers
• Ultra-fast MID-IR pulsed lasers
• MID-IR Fiber Materials and Drawing technology
• New Nano-Materials Operating in MID-IR Range
• Applications of MID-IR Lasers

Paper Submission Deadline: 15th July 2015
Accepted Paper Notification: 10th August 2015

JEST (ISSN 1674-862X) is a peer-reviewed periodical, indexed by EI in INSPEC, and also included in DOAJ, CA, CSCD, CNKI, Sciencepaper Online, etc.
All the manuscripts will undergo standard peer review processes. For manuscript preparation and submission, please follow the guidelines in the Information for Authors at http://www.journal.uestc.edu.cn/?p=category&category_id=15. All the manuscripts could be submitted by the standard submission way or the quick submission way. When submitting, please indicate that this paper is intended for Special Issue on MID-IRL.
