PROFES 2016 brings together researchers and practitioners to share their reserach findings and experiences in software engineering, process improvement and product improvement, In the spirit of the PROFES conference series, PROFES 2016 will focus on how the challenges of improving software development within the different practice areas such as requirements, design, construction, testing, maintenance, process, methods, management, etc. The conference explicitly encourages submissions of research papers based on empirical evidence ranging from controlled experiments to case studies and from quantitative to qualitative studies. PROFES 2016 is part of a series of conferences presented by profes-conferences.org

As a novelty for 2016, we are introducing a radical new track for the conference called “Radical Challenge Track”. The intent is to draw ideas from the scientific and professional sofware communities who are searching ways to build the next paradigm for software development. The contributions are less scientific in their nature but argued in a compelling way. We would like to provide an opportunity for the community to present ideas that generate discussion and have the capacity to push the field forward in an unexpected way. The submissions are still peer-reviewed to ensure the quality and they are included in the tecnical conference proceedings. Both, full papers and short papers on radical challenges are welcomed.

The conference explicitly encourages submissions of evidence-based research papers ranging from controlled experiments to case studies and from quantitative to qualitative studies.

The topics of interest include, but are not restricted to, the following:
- Process modelling, management, assessment and improvement
- Value-driven software development
- Processes for software innovation
- Infrastructure and processes for iterative or incremental software delivery
- Release planning
- Continuous deployment
- Development approaches using customer feedback
- Product quality models for software, system, and services
- Project management techniques
- Methods and processes for developing cloud-based systems and services
- Software development for Cyber Physical Systems
- Agile and lean methods and processes
- Global or distributed software development
- Processes and methods for COTS and open source development
- Service engineering processes
- Software business models

Submission guidelines

The scientific program papers will be rigorously peer-reviewed for publication in the well known research publication series Springer LNCS.

The language of the scientific program is English. Papers must contain original unpublished work, describe significant novel contributions, and provide evidence on the validation of results. In particular, reports on industrial applications are welcome. Papers must not have been previously published or submitted for review elsewhere.

The prospective authors should follow carefully the Springer LNCS guidelines for preparing the manuscript. The details can be found at the conference website at https://profes2016.idi.ntnu.no.

All scientific program contributions will be reviewed by the international Program Committee on their scientific merit and relevance to the conference topics and may be accepted as regular or short papers. The list of program committee members is published in the conference website.

If accepted, papers must be personally presented at the Profes 2016 Conference.
