CALL FOR PAPERS
3rd Workshop on Software Visualization, Maintenance, and Evolution (VEM 2015) 23 September 2015, Belo Horizonte, MG - Brazil http://vem2015.dcc.ufla.br/ Co-located with the 6th Brazilian Conference on Software: Theory and Practice (CBSoft 2015) ================ Important Dates ================ Submission deadline: 21 June 2015 (Anywhere on Earth) (extended to 06 July 2015) Notification of acceptance: 20 July 2015 Camera-ready copy due: 30 July 2015 Workshop: 23 September 2015 ============= Motivation ============= The growing need to maintain and evolve software systems is a major challenge in modern software engineering. Several studies show that software evolution or maintenance tasks have been responsible for a considerable cost on the development process, reaching in some cases, 90% of the total cost. Evolving complex software systems, however, requires advanced means for understanding the software artifacts to be modified. Software comprehension is a non-trivial task. Software visualization relies on the use of visual resources to facilitate software comprehension, either through the analysis of a single system version or the system entire version history. Due to this clear intersection of the research challenges involving the areas of Software Visualization, Software Evolution, and Software Maintenance, there is a need for a joint forum to discuss these challenges together. The third Workshop on Software Visualization, Maintenance, and Evolution (VEM 2015) aims at bringing together the research communities interested in topics related to Software Visualization, Software Evolution, and Software Maintenance to share and discuss ideas, strengthen research group collaborations and identify new research opportunities. ============================================ Topics of interest ============================================ Topics of interest are related to several research challenges in Software Visualization, Software Evolution, and Software Maintenance. They include, but are not limited to: - Mining software repositories and software analytics - Processes of software maintenance and evolution - Metrics and assessment of evolving software - Empirical studies about software visualization, evolution, and maintenance - Maintenance and evolution of Web applications - Maintenance and evolution of applications in the cloud - Software architecture, product lines, components and frameworks - Aspect orientation, feature orientation, and generative programming - Tools and environments for software maintenance and evolution - Reverse engineering, reengineering, and refactoring - Static and dynamic analyses - Software visualization and comprehension techniques - Migration and test of legacy software systems - Static and dynamic software source code visualization - Computational Reflection and Metaprogramming - Software management (risks, economic aspects, configuration management, planning, and estimation) - Visualization of software engineering activities, such as requirements engineering, tests, and maintenance - Visualization of workflows, business processes, and network flows - Views in integrated development environments - Database visualization - Education of software visualization, evolution, and maintenance ======================= Submission Guidelines ======================= The workshop will accept technical papers with up to 8 pages written in English or in Portuguese. All submissions must be in PDF format and formatted according to the SBC template (available at http://vem2015.dcc.ufla.br/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/template_sbc.rar). Submitted papers must be unpublished and should not be under review elsewhere. Experimental evaluation of the results is desirable, but it is not a precondition for paper submitted to the workshop. Papers with innovative and promising proposals are welcome. The acceptance of a paper implies that at least one of its authors will register for the workshop and present the paper. All papers must be submitted using the JEMS conference system (https://submissoes.sbc.org.br/), up to 23:59 of the informed deadline (Apia/Samoa time). The workshop proceedings will be published in the CBSoft 2015 proceedings. ================== Best Paper Award ================== As in the previous editions, we will award the best workshop paper. ===================== Workshop Co-Chairs ===================== Marco Aurelio Gerosa (IME-USP, Brazil) Ricardo Terra (UFLA, Brazil) ====================== Program Committee (TBA) ====================== |
