CALL FOR PAPERS: Special issue of Software Quality Journal

Topic: Software Quality in Component-based Software Intensive Systems

General Area of Special Issue:
Industry is becoming more and more interested in component-based
software, since it increases flexibility in both development and in
updating software systems dynamically. Thus, companies need to improve
their ways of developing, building and composing software intensive
systems. Software component development may be conducted in-house or
outsourced, or components may be acquired or companies may choose to
use open source as part of their software system. This implies that
software intensive systems will become a combination of software
components coming from different sources. This puts new requirements
on ensuring software quality of the systems delivered to the market
and to customers.

Call for Papers:
We seek papers on software quality related to software components as
such and to software intensive systems built of components. If
proposing new concepts or solutions, the papers are expected to
include an evaluation (not only an illustration). Papers to be
considered should have a clear focus on the quality aspects of
components or component-based systems. The quality focus may be
combined with the following topics of particular interest, but are not
limited to:
• Evaluation of software components
• Studies related to different ways of developing components
• Research related to the integration of components into systems
• Systematic literature reviews or mapping studies related to the area
of the special issue
• Use of components in different application domains
• Studies of use of components in an industrial environment
• Empirical studies of components and component-based systems
The special issue will cover both management and more technical
aspects in relation to software quality of component-based software
intensive systems.
