Call for papers - IEEE Smart Industries Workshop (SIW 2018)
June 18th, 2018 - Taormina, Italy https://weblab.ing.unimore.it/smartindustries/18/ -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Co-located with the 4th IEEE International Conference on Smart Computing (SMARTCOMP 2018) - http://www.smart-comp.org/ Smart computing is at the core of all present and future technological innovations. Novel paradigms are needed to allow scalable, real-time and resilient communication among industrial devices, according to specific needs of different industrial applications. Moreover, security issues in the connected industry are paramount, since cyber attacks to these systems can have relevant consequences for the safety of people. The workshop on Smart Industries aims to bring together researchers from academia and from industry to meet and exchange ideas on recent research and future directions for smart manufacturing and Industry 4.0, focusing on solutions that can improve efficiency, sustainability and security of the future industrial processes. The workshop solicits contributions about novel solutions and approaches, experiences and evaluations on emerging technologies. The workshop is also a venue to discuss and disseminate projects results and to receive early feedbacks on work-in-progress and disruptive approaches. The topics of interest to the workshop include, but are not limited to: - scalable and resilient protocols for industrial devices - cloud solutions for industry 4.0 - emerging standards in smart industries and mobile systems - industrial IoT - secure and scalable SCADA systems - real-time and time-bounded operating systems and communication protocols for industry 4.0 - smart grids and energy distribution - smart medical applications and devices - smart transportation systems - secure protocols for industrial applications - applications of distributed ledgers to industry 4.0 - trusted computation in untrusted environments - smart contracts for industrial supply chain - incident detection and management - information sharing in smart industries - human-machine interactions in cyber-physical systems - innovative and secure sensing strategies for process monitoring and tracking of product history - machine learning techniques applied to smart manufacturing and Industry 4.0 - smart tooling and in-line part inspection - improving manufacturing through IoT and big data analytics - process safety in industry 4.0 Dates and submission -------------------- Submission deadline: February 28, 2018 Acceptance notification: March 30, 2018 Camera-ready submission: April 21, 2018 Submitted papers should be up to 6-pages in IEEE double-column format. All accepted papers will be published in the IEEE SmartComp proceedings and indexed in IEEE Xplore and Scopus.
