Scope:
SmartEdge aims at bringing together experts from several research communities spanning pervasive and mobile computing, wireless networks, embedded systems, Internet of Things, big data, and data analytics to discuss data needs and interests, challenges to be addressed, tools to be developed, and new research problems on edge wireless infrastructure, edge mobile systems, rich set data accessed or generated by edge devices and the Internet of Things. Topics of Interest: All accepted papers will be included in the PERCOM 2017 Proceedings, will be available on IEEE Xplore, and will be professionally indexed by the IEEE Computer Society's Conference Publishing Service. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to the following: Edge systems, applications and services Interactions between the edge and the cloud Architecture of edge systems Wireless communications and networking architecture for edge systems Resource indexing, monitoring, and metering Device-to-Device communication and cooperation Fault-tolerance, availability and replication for the edge Collective context awareness Edge-based data management and data analytics Edge-based quality of service and experience Load balancing and resource management for the edge Edge authentication, authorization, and billing Security and privacy for edge systems Internet-of-Things, fog computing, cloud-let computing and related ideas Energy efficiency and spectral efficiency enhancements for the edge Programming models and toolkits for edge systems Software defined networking (SDN) for the edge Co-existence of wireless technologies in the edge Crowd sourcing and crowd sensing for edge systems Buffering, queuing, and caching in the edge Edge-based cyber-physical solutions Smart devices and wearable technologies Self-driving and connected vehicles, V2V/V2X Human factors for edge computing Machine learning techniques for smart mobile and edge systems Mobile augmented reality systems on the edge Submission Guidelines: Authors are invited to submit original unpublished work, not currently under review by other conferences, workshops or journals. Full papers should be restricted to 6 camera-ready pages (in 10pt font, double column, US letter size, 8.5 x 11 inches, IEEE format), including text, figures and references. Authors must follow the formatting guidelines here and here.
