Call For Papers

Active and Assisted Living (AAL) focuses on the use of information and communication technologies (ICT) in a person's daily living and working environment to enable them to stay active longer, remain socially connected and live independently into old age. Research efforts in AAL have increased rapidly to support independent living, as the social and economic impact of aging population has become an important problem for the European society. For this reason, allowing people to stay active and independent as they grow older is key to tackle the challenge of this demographic ageing.

AAL technologies provide a variety services to support older people: tele-care, fall prevention and detection, mental health and cognitive stimulation, prevention and management of chronic conditions, support to activities of daily living…

Topics of interest include but are not limited to:
• Technologies:
o Smart homes
o Intelligent sensors
o Interaction with the smart home (wearable, gesture recognition, affective computing)
o Data fusion
o Computer vision for AAL
o Reasoning systems
o Networks and integration platforms
o Assistive and social robotics
• Applications:
o Tele-care and tele-health
o Fall prevention, detection and intervention
o Gait analysis
o Prevention and management of chronic conditions
