CALL FOR PAPERS International Workshop on Device-to-Device Communication for 5G Systems (WD2DC) http://wd2dc.org Co-located with European Wireless 2015 Budapest, Hungary, 20-22 May 2015 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- SCOPE OF THE WORKSHOP Device-to-Device (D2D) communication has recently gained momentum in academia and industries as a mean to extend coverage and overcome the limitations of conventional cellular systems. Devices being close to each other can activate direct links by either using cellular communication resources (i.e., inband D2D) or using alternative radio technologies such as Wi-Fi (i.e., outband D2D). The D2D communication paradigm holds, among others, the promise of very high bit rates, low delays, and low power consumption. There are a number of applications where D2D communication can provide significant improvements making it a key feature of 5G wireless systems. For example, it can be useful to provide mobile data offloading for proximity based applications, to extend the network coverage, or supporting content sharing among users and group oriented services. However, there are many issues still waiting for a solution before a widespread use in next generation networks is granted. Objective of this workshop is to bring together academic and industrial researchers and discuss recent results and future research issues related to D2D communication in 5G networks. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- KEYNOTE SPEECH We are pleased to announce that Dr. Gabor Fodor - Ericsson Research, Kista, Sweden, will give the keynote entitled "D2D For 5G: Vision and Ambition" at the WD2DC workshop. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- TOPICS OF INTEREST Topics of interest are (but not limited to): – D2D communications for 5G networks – Resource allocation and optimization for D2D communications – Cooperative D2D communication – Game-theoretic approaches for D2D communications – D2D in massive MIMO systems – Channel estimation techniques for D2D – Impact of HW imperfections and limitations on D2D performance – Modelling of control plane support for cellular network assisted D2D communications – LTE based implementations and applications – Centralized and distributed coordination for D2D communications – Localization and ranging in D2D scenarios – D2D neighbour discovery techniques – D2D and multi-hop communications – D2D to support Machine to Machine communication – WiFi Direct based implementations and applications – Energy efficiency analysis for D2D communications – Network coding for D2D communications – D2D applications for multicast and broadcast services – D2D applications for Cloud Computing – D2D applications for the Internet of Things -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- IMPORTANT DATES Submission Deadline: February 13, 2015 Acceptance notification: March 22, 2015 Camera ready version: March 29, 2015 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- SUBMISSION GUIDELINES The workshop accepts only novel, previously unpublished papers in the area of Device-to-Device Communication. Prospective authors are encouraged to submit a 6-page IEEE conference style paper (including all text, figures, and references) through EDAS submission system (http://edas.info/newPaper.php?c=18779&track=70141). Papers exceeding the maximum length of six pages will be subject to an over-length charge of 100 euro per additional page (a maximum of two pages can be added). The charge shall be paid as an additional fee to ordinary registration by the reference author of the paper. Accepted papers must be presented at the workshop by one of the authors. All papers selected for publication will be published together with European Wireless 2015 proceedings and available on IEEE Xplore database and will be indexed in the abstract and citation database Scopus (approval pending). -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- WORKSHOP CHAIRS Leonardo Militano, Mediterranea University of Reggio Calabria, Italy Dusit Niyato, School of Computer Engineering, Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore CONFIRMED TPC MEMBERS Andrea Zanella - University of Padova, Italy Andreas Festag - Vodafone Chair/Technical University of Dresden, Germany Dan Zhang - Vodafone Chair/Technical University of Dresden, Germany Dirk Wübben - University of Bremen, Germany Gerhard Wunder - Fraunhofer Heinrich Hertz Institut/TU Berlin, Germany Giuseppe Araniti - University of Reggio Calabria, Italy Jesús Alonso-Zárate - CTTC Barcelona, Spain Kun Zhu - Nangyang Technological University, Singapore Lingyang Song - Peking University Beijing, China Luciano Leonel Mendes - Vodafone Chair/Technical University of Dresden, Germany Marco Belleschi - Ericsson Research Stockholm, Sweden Marcos Katz - Oulu University, Finland Massimo Condoluci - University of Reggio Calabria, Italy Qi Zhang - Aarhus University, Denmark Sergey Andreev - Tampere University of Technology, Finland Vasilis Friderikos - King's College London, United Kingdom Vincenzo Mancuso - IMDEA Madrid, Spain Walid Saad - University of Miami, USA Zhu Han - University of Houston, USA For more information, visit the workshop website: http://wd2dc.org |
