Call For Papers

SIGIR 2015 Short Papers Program
SIGIR is the major international forum for the presentation of new research results and for the demonstration of new systems and techniques in the broad field of information retrieval (IR). SIGIR 2015 will be held in Santiago, Chile from 9-13 August 2015. We invite those working in areas related to IR to submit original (four-page) short papers, which will be presented as posters at the conference.

Short papers present original, previously-unpublished work. They provide an opportunity to describe significant work in progress or research that is best communicated in an interactive or graphical format. Short papers can also present smaller or more speculative ideas, research that is controversial, and new applications of old ideas or the reworking of previous studies. They should be inspirational and spark some discussion among attendees.

Submissions are welcome in areas related to any aspect of IR, as identified in the call for contributions on the conference website. Submissions will be peer reviewed, and accepted submissions will be published in the conference proceedings. Each accepted submission will be presented as a poster during the poster session, where researchers can obtain direct feedback about their work from a wide audience.

Instructions for Short Papers Submissions
Submissions of short papers must be in English, in PDF format, and should not exceed four pages in SIGIR two-column format (including references and figures). Suitable LaTeX and Word templates for SIGIR are available from the ACM Website: http://www.acm.org/sigs/publications/proceedings-templates. The short-paper review process is double-blind. Authors must conceal their identity. Submissions that are over the four-page limit, do not adhere to the SIGIR two-column format, are not anonymous, or are incomplete will be rejected without review. Each submission should also be complete with all co-authors' information entered into the conference submission system.

Note that summaries of full papers that have already been published or submitted elsewhere (including in another language) are not acceptable as short-paper submission to SIGIR 2015. This dual submission policy applies to short- and long-paper submissions to SIGIR 2015. If a short-paper and long-paper submission to SIGIR 2015 from the same authors are similar, they will both be rejected.

Short papers must be submitted electronically using the short-paper track of the conference submission system. The SIGIR 2015 Short Paper submission system is available at http://sigir2015-short.confmaster.net/

It is the responsibility of the authors to ensure that the PDF submission has been uploaded successfully. We suggest that authors download the PDF after submission to ensure correct formatting and printability.

At least one author of each accepted short paper must register and attend SIGIR 2015.

Authors Take Note
Rejected long papers will not be considered as short papers.

The official publication date is the date the proceedings are made available in the ACM Digital Library. This date may be up to two weeks prior to the first day of your conference. The official publication date affects the deadline for any patent filings related to published work.
