AIAR 2010 is organized by the TIA research group at INAOE Mexico.

AIAR 2010 focuses on image annotation and on the combination of both textual and visual information into the multimedia image retrieval task. We invite researchers and students to submit extended abstracts of their work.

TOPICS OF INTEREST

You are invited to submit a paper in one of the following topics:

* Automatic image segmentation
* Automatic image annotation
* Annotation-based image retrieval
* Visual concept detection and object retrieval
* Image retrieval combining textual and visual information
* Methods that use spatial context and/or semantic information for image annotation
* Relevance feedback in multimedia image retrieval
* Object detection and recognition
* Ground-truth data for image annotation and retrieval

PRESENTATION & PUBLICATION
--------------------------

Accepted works will be presented in the workshop and full versions of accepted abstracts will be published on-line in CEUR Workshop Proceedings (see http://sunsite.informatik.rwth-aachen.de/Publications/CEUR-WS/).

Additionally, extended versions of a selection the best papers will be invited for a special issue of a Journal to be announced.

PAPER FORMAT & SUBMISSION
-------------------------

Extended abstracts must be prepared according to the EasyChair class style, available from http://www.easychair.org. The length of the extended abstract must be of at least one and at most two pages. The full versions of accepted papers can have a maximum length of 10 pages. Invited papers for the Journal's special issue will be free length.

Papers must be submitted online using EasyChair system: http://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=aiar2010.

Submission of the paper assumes that at least one author will register at the workshop and present an accepted paper or poster.

The format of the workshop includes keynote tutorials in the morning and oral presentations and posters in the afternoon. We have confirmed the following keynote speakers:

* Stefan Rüger (Multimedia and Information Systems group, The Open University of London)

* Max J. Egenhofer (Professor in Spatial Information Science and Engineering, University of Maine)

SCHOLARSHIPS

AIAR 2010 organizers are pleased to announce the availability of a limited number of Scholarships for students, who are the principal authors of accepted papers, attending AIAR 2010. Scholarships will cover accommodation, foods and registration.

A certificate will be granted to the author(s) of the best student paper award.

CULTURAL PROGRAM

Puebla is a beautiful colonial city recognized by UNESCO. It is
two hours by road from Mexico City, with direct buses from Mexico
City's Airport. We plan to have excursions to Puebla City Center,
Cholula and to the ancient pyramids of Teotihuacan (one of the
most important archaeological sites in America).
