International Workshop on Mobile Spatial Information Systems August 17-20, 2015, Belfort, France http://www.gutech.edu.om/msis/ ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Although different, Spatial Information Systems (SISs) and Geographic Information Systems (GISs) are commonly used interchangeably. They are both about capturing, storing, analysing and displaying geo-referenced data. Thanks to considerable advances in mobile devices (e.g., tablets and smartphones) and wireless communication technologies (e.g., Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, 4G), Mobile Spatial Information Systems (MSISs) are being designed and implemented in a wide variety of applications including environmental monitoring, healthcare, energy, and transportation. The rapid expansion of pervasive computing systems, including Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs), Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID) readers, radars, Internet, and satellites are posing serious challenges for MSISs in handling huge amounts of potentially heterogeneous and inconsistent data while creating opportunities for acquiring the right data, from the right spatial area, at the right time, for the right purpose. MSIS’15 aims to gather latest research breakthroughs leveraging the complementarity of spatial data management techniques, mobile computing technologies, and GIS tools toward the creation of new and reliable spatial services on mobile devices. The workshop will gather leading researchers from academics and industry to present new ideas, original research results, and practical development experiences. Authors are invited to submit original technical papers (theoretical or application) covering but not limited to the topics of interest listed below: - Spatial Data Acquisition - Spatial Data Integration - Spatial Data Analysis - Spatial Data Visualization for Mobile Applications - Spatial Multidimensional Models - Spatial Data Warehouses - Spatial Ontologies - Big Data and Mobile GIS - Cloud Spatial Information - Internet of Things and GIS - Sensor-based GIS - Mobile GIS - Participatory GIS - Volunteered Geographic Information - Data Security and Privacy - Cyber Physical Systems and GIS - Crowdsourcing for Spatial Information Infrastructures - MSIS architectures - Knowledge Extraction from Spatial Data - Distributed Spatial Information Systems - Mobile Location-Based Services - Mobile Spatial Decision Support Systems - Tracking Information Systems - Spatial Awareness and Privacy - Spatio-Temporal Remote Sensing - Intelligent GIS - Real-time management in MSIS - Interoperability and interaction in MSIS - Mobile Localization - Geo-positioning and MSIS - Augmented Reality for Spatial Information Systems - Mobile Could Computing for GIS - Pervasive computing for MSIS - Web Services for MSIS - Modeling, verification and validation approaches for MSIS - MSIS Applications in Transportation and Logistics - MSIS Applications in Healthcare - MSIS Applications in Environmental monitoring - MSIS Applications in Energy - MSIS Applications in Urban Planning Important Dates: Submission Deadline: May 05, 2015 Author Notification: May 25, 2015 Camera Ready: June 10, 2015 Submission Instructions: Authors are requested to submit papers reporting original research results. The page limit for papers should not exceed 6 pages. Papers should be prepared using Elsevier author guidelines of Procedia. Authors are requested to submit their papers electronically in PDF format.
