Call For Papers

« New perspectives on the Canada - Europe partnership »
International conference
June 10- 13 2015
Université de Nantes (France)

In the context of the recent initialing of the Strategic Partnership Agreement and the negotiations of the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) in September 2014, we invite specialists (confirmed scholars and phD candidates) to reflect on the state of the relationship and partnership between Europe and Canada both from a historical perspective and a forward-looking one. Is this new political and economic framework a turning-point in the EU-Canada relationship ?

The conference organizers invite specialists in the fields of political sciences, economics, international relations and international law to provide their analysis on this “modernized” framework.

Since this conference is interdisciplinary we would also like to invite historians, geographers and sociologists to reflect on the various and multi-faceted exchanges which have taken place between Europe and Canada in the past decades. Did our informal and formal relationships in the recent past engender some cross-cultural practices ? Which are they: in political praxis, in legal, scientific or cultural practices ? Is there any shared perspective on societal progress or even converging practices which have developed over the years ?

We would like to receive 300- word proposals for 20-minute papers in French or English, before December 1, 2014, along with a short bio to:

Francoise.le-jeune@univ-nantes.fr

Two special issues of the Revue Etudes Canadiennes/ Canadian Studies (on line revues.org and paper version) will be dedicated to the publication of the selected articles in English or French. Full articles will need to be ready for submission by August 31, 2015.
