SPLC, the premier forum for practitioners, researchers and
educators to present and discuss the most recent ideas,
innovations, trends, experiences, and concerns in the area
of software product lines and software product family
engineering, comes to Jeju Island in South Korea in 2010.
The objective is to continue the dialogue between software
product line practitioners and researchers on the benefits,
obstacles, and weaknesses of applying software product line
principles, techniques, methods, processes, and tools in
an industrial or organizational setting.

Scope:
Although the traditional software product line topics
obviously are in the scope of the conference, the focus
for SPLC 2010 is on novel approaches to effective sharing
of software assets inside and across organizations. These
topics include, but are not limited to:
* Industrial experiences in product line engineering
* Techniques and tools for product line engineering
* Evolution of product line assets
* Business issues for product lines
* Organizational and process issues for product lines
* Product line life-cycle issues
* Effective software product lines across organizational
boundaries
- Software supply chains
- Software ecosystem
* Software product line in new emerging application domains
- Web services and online applications
- Service oriented systems
- Mobile applications and services
* Software product lines and COTs components
* Software product line approaches for end user
configurability and programming
* Business models and investment assessment

We invite three classes of original, unpublished submissions:
(1) RESEARCH PAPERS describe original research contribution
(theoretical, conceptual) to the field of software product
line engineering. A research paper should clearly describe
the problem that has been tackled, the state of the art with
respect to the problem, the solution that is suggested and the
potential -- or even better the evaluated -- benefits of the
contribution. We also call for short research papers, which
are intended to report ideas in their early stages without
complete/evaluated result.
(2) EXPERIENCE PAPERS describe the history of a software
product line accompanied by a critical review of experience
within one or more development phases within a family and/or
application engineering. An experience report describes
lessons learned in domains of specific industries like
automobile, mobile communication, embedded controller, or
enterprise software.
(3) POSTERS describe research results or on-going research
projects. They are displayed in a dedicated poster area at
the conference, and presented in poster sessions. Poster
papers will appear in the second volume of proceedings.

All contributions will be subject to a rigorous selection
process by the international Program Committee, with an
emphasis on originality, practicality and overall quality.
Every paper will be reviewed by at least 3 committee members.
All submissions should follow the LNCS format (15 pages for
research/experience full papers and 5 pages for short research
papers in maximum) and should include the authors' names,

affiliations and contact details. Further instructions for
submitting a paper will be available at
http://splc2010.postech.ac.kr/. A paper that does not conform
to the submission format could be rejected without review. We
plan to have a best paper award and extended version of best
papers will be considered for publication in a special issue
of the journal "Science of Computer Programming (Elsevier)."

Proceedings will be published in two volumes to encourage
participation:
- Main volume (LNCS): research and experience papers (including
short research papers)
- Second volume: poster papers, workshop position papers, panel
position papers, demo summaries - this volume will have a
separate ISBN
