Special Issue on Soft Computing Applications for Cloud Computing Call for papers In the new era of Cloud Computing (CC), a huge number of providers, services and data are available to end users. CC is usually coupled with Big Data. The dynamic interaction among key players is the main research issue in such systems. In these cases, it is imperative the need for intelligent as well as efficient systems for manipulating the dynamic nature of CC. As CC will become mature, such systems will play an important role to the CC expansion and its spread in much more end users and providers. For instance, the increase on the user devices lead to an increased demand for services and data together with an increased number of queries. Decision makers should adopt intelligent techniques over CC for reaching efficient and time-optimized applications. The adoption of Soft Computing (SC) and Computational Intelligence (CI) methods, in general, for building intelligent systems in CC could offer a number of advantages. Both SC and CI could provide means for the creation of effective systems that will respond to every situation met in a dynamic environment like CC. Hence, end users and providers will have the minimum intervention in handling the offered services together with the highest possible performance. The main focus of this special issue will be on the adoption of SC and CI methods and theories in the CC research domain for the creation of intelligent CC systems and novel decision making mechanisms. Contributors will have the opportunity to present novel methods, theories, tools, techniques and methodologies that adopt SC and CI. This special issue will record recent developments in the discussed field. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to: • Decision making systems for CC • Recommender systems for CC • Support Vector Machines in CC • Metaheuristics-based Optimization in CC applications • Neural networks for CC applications • Swarm Intelligence and CC • Expert Systems for CC • Intelligent Agents and CC • Computational finance models for CC • Data mining applications for CC • Big Data and CC • CC applications Important dates are: Manuscript due: December 15th, 2014 Authors’ Notification: February 28th, 2015 Final Submission: April 30th, 2015 Publication Date: Summer 2015 Guest Editors Dr Kolomvatsos, Kostas Department of Computer Science University of Thessaly Lamia, Greece kostasks@di.uoa.gr, kolomvatsos@cs.uth.gr Dr Du, Ke-Lin Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering Concordia University Montreal, Canada kldu@ece.concordia.ca Dr Anagnostopoulos, Christos School of Computing Science University of Glasgow Glasgow, UK christos.anagnostopoulos@glasgow.ac.uk Published by Springer (http://www.springer.com) http://www.springer.com/computer/database+management+%26+information+retrieval/journal/13748 Progress in Artificial Intelligence journal Editor-in-Chief: Francisco Herrera ISSN: 2192-6360 (electronic version) Journal No. 13748 |
