The inspiration to organize the conference have become, falling this year and subsequent years, anniversaries the oldest universities in Lublin: Metropolitan Seminary, the Catholic University of Lublin, Lublin School of the Elders (Yeshiva), University of Maria Curie-Sklodowska University. The aim of the conference is to present the rich tradition of academic Lublin. We want to talk about the mission, goals and history of Lublin universities. We want to point out the cultural, religious and political circles of which come from, and where also people working in them, and present their achievements. We hope that recalling about multiculturalism universities, which enriched, mobilized to work in research and teaching areas as well, we can revive the spirit of cooperation resulting from the love of knowledge and desire to seek the truth. We want also to share knowledge and experiences with representatives of other research centres on the fate of the creators and founders of Lublin universities, staff and graduates of local universities, whose traditions learned from the family home, life experience and scientific knowledge and values instilled in Lublin had an impact on research and teaching of other academic centres. We want to find people who studied here, gained cuts, began a career in science, but later moved to other cities or countries, and the apogee of their scientific career occurred at a time of activity outside of Lublin.
The thematic areas of the conference 1 Biographies of Lublin scientists. 2 The Lublin graduates of Polish and foreign universities. 3 Multiculturalism in Lublin science. 4 Concepts of education stemming from Lublin universities (WSD, CUL, Yeshiva, UMSC-in, medical school, agricultural, polytechnics and schools created after the political transformations). 5 Student life in Lublin universities. 6 Politics versus business Lublin universities. 7 Theoretical currents and practical activity of Lublin scientists. 8 Religious diversity of education in the 1920s and 1930s. 9 Religious and ideological constellations in the postwar period. 10 The impact of historical breakthroughs on activities of Lublin higher schools. 11 Migration of Lublin scientists. 12 Distribution map of universities in Lublin. 13 Intergenerational transmission of values related to academic Lublin. 14 Academic Lublin as a utopia and heterotopia in biographies of scholars and students.
