The main purpose of the EWG-DSS International Conference on Decision Support Systems Technology (ICDSST 2015), with its main theme on “Big Data Analytics in Decision Making”, is to attract researchers, developers and specialists of the related areas of decision making, its methodologies and technologies; as well as application oriented practitioners directed to the implementation of big data analytics solutions, to get together in order to exchange experiences and identify the key issues within various decision making application areas, so that exploitation of new approaches and tools for dealing with Big Data in Decision Making processes can be effectively implemented in future developments. THEMES AND TOPICS OF INTEREST Nowadays in almost all application areas, several trends and technologies are making it possible for decision makers at various levels of organizations to make more informed decisions, faster and in a cooperative way. The decision-making process that is urged these days is a more decentralized, distributed, as well as more collaborative one. Moreover, best practices in contemporary business decisions and decision-making methods show that it is crucial to have availability of analytical power within the collaborative platform to bring the necessarily sense of data. Data is generated at a pace faster than ever, so a big challenge for decision-makers is to unleash the potential of Big Data and Analytics in order to make efficient and right timed decisions. Analyzing complex data that has huge volumes that are generated at high speed is currently an open problem for the society, as it is estimated that 80% of new data has never been analyzed before. There is a huge potential in using Big Data for Decision-Making. However, there are many open quest ions both from practical and from research points of views. Development of new tools and methods for decision making to deal with the Bog Data era is a crucial effort that needs to be faced urgently.
