BIGDAP 2014 is a workshop aimed at promoting and displaying excellent research and innovation on Big Data. BIGDAP 2014 encourages high-quality research in all branches of Big Data application. Their broad scope provides an opportunity to bring together researchers and industrial companies motivated by the exchange of theoretical, practical and experimental approaches in implemented real use cases. BIGDAP 2014 is hosted and sponsored by FP7 ONTIC project (Online Network TraffIc Characterization, http://ict-ontic.eu) that is funded by European Commission. Therefore, the application of scalable Big Data analytics to network traffic characterization will be a key topic in this workshop. Significant room will be reserved to PhD students in BIGDAP 2014, to allow them to share ideas and know-how related to Big Data topics.

BIGDAP 2014 will be held in the School of Computer Systems Engineering (E.T.S. Ingenieria de Sistemas Informaticos, www.etsisi.upm.es), Technical University of Madrid (Universidad Politecnica de Madrid), Madrid, Spain, on September 11-12, 2014.

Structure
---------
BIGDAP 2014 will be organized in invited talks, one industrial track and peer-reviewed scientific contributions.


Submissions guidelines:
-----------------------
Papers should present research or industrial contributions concerning the topics of the workshop. Papers must be written in English and must provide sufficient details for the program committee to assess their merits.

Submissions are electronic, and instructions can be found at http://ict-ontic.eu/bigdap14/submission.html.

Papers will undergo a peer reviewing process by Programme Committee members. The Programme Committee will select contributions to be presented at the workshop and published in the proceedings according to the criteria of originality, clarity, and completeness.
Emergent research works aiming to receive feedback will be also accepted and published in brief announcement format.
Additionally, relevant dissemination works, already published, will be also accepted with the aim of generating synergies, collaborations, new challenges and future work among Big Data community members.

Double submission is allowed.

Publication:
-------------
Selected papers will be presented during the workshop and published as a volume of BIGDAP 2014 workshop proceedings.
It is required that each accepted paper be presented at the workshop by one of its authors.
