It is our pleasure to announce that the 14th IEEE International Symposium on Power Line Communications and its Applications will be held at Rio Othon Palace, Rio de Janeiro City, from March 28 to March 31, 2010. Rio de Janeiro is a major city in southeastern Brazil and the capital of the state of Rio de Janeiro. The city is nicknamed A Cidade Maravilhosa - "The Marvelous City".

The Symposium focuses on research, application, and commercialization aspects of the power line communication technology, in both broadband and narrowband fields. Prospective authors are cordially invited to submit contributions describing completed or ongoing research related to the power line communication area. Papers should be original and should not have been presented in other conferences or journals. The contributions should address one of the following aspects related to PLC field including but not limited to:

* Channel characterization and modeling
* Electro-magnetic compatibility/interference and coupling
* Modulation and coding techniques
* Signal processing
* Cognitive issues
* Error control
* Multiple access techniques and MAC protocols
* Duplex and repeater techniques, routing, and autonomous network functions

* Power system applications
* Broadband and multimedia applications
